3's sim-only 'The One Plan' price increase

A 3's employer has posted on HUKD that sim only One plan prices are to be increased from the next month. From £15 to £18 on 12 month contract and from £18 to £22 on monthly rolling contract. So it is a good time to get unlimited mobile internet with tethering and free 4g upgrade + tons of min/sms. Pity that 3 does not do quidco/TCB anymore.

That will leave giffgaff and virgin cheaper for unlimited data although not 4g yet.

With Virgin you need always add cost of hours you need to spend every month checking carefully your bill against your tariff - thanks to unbelievably mess in their billing system. And - probably - hours spent calling customer services.
  • the cynic in me thinks that we be seeing mid contract price rises for existing customers as well as per what happened with other mobile operators.

It's not really comparing lie in like though, tether on giffgadf and they'll cut you off with it warning, go over 6gb on virgin and your speed will be cut to a stupidly unusable speed.

Virgin don't allow tethering or 4G, plus they cap speeds (to an unusable level) after you've used more than 3.5GB data.

Giff Gaff don't allow tethering or 4G and cut you off if you use an excessive amount in a short time.
