Diary of a someone who wants to cut the debt and buy a nest

Hello everyone i'm a 19 year old female living in the south east of England, I work in a well known supermarket and drum roll... I'm about £3000 in debt :(
In about March of last year (2013) I moved out of my mums house and got a flat with my boyfriend of nearly 5 years. Well it didn't go well as it was so expensive for a 2 bed flat all our money went to bills rent food etc we had no money for ourselves I took out lots of payday loans and couldnt pay them so hello high interest rates
so in December (2013) we moved in his sisters house we pay her £400/month rent for food bills etc which is really cheap. So I have about £450 ish a month(depends on how much tax and ni gets taken outta my pay).
I have made it this year to start paying off my debts because it's starting to get outta control. I'm also want to start money for a house so maybe in about £15 I hopefully can buy one instead of having the drama of a mortgage, might be hard work to save the money but I'm determined. Anyways enough of me blabbing on going to try to get some sleep start work at 9am:(

    Hi Hearts,

It sounds like you have a decent head on your shoulders for a 19 year old :)

Why not list your creditors and debts on a separate thread over on the Debt Free Wannabe forum? A full SOA would be good as it will allow folk to chip in and make suggestions for possible savings?

Good news is that yes, you have £3k in debt but you're young, but you have a fair bit left after essentials like rent each month so you should be sorted soon enough!

    Morning!

Sadly there are a lot of younger folk who are happy to sit back and wait for the world to come to them, problem is that the world comes to them n the form of "free money" otherwise known as payday loans and credit cards...

You've twigged quite early, I wish that I had before I got into the position I'm in now but hey... I'm getting there too now ;)

Keep on plugging away and you'll be sorted - if it helps, I've never met anyone who got a hangover and vomited up the £80 they spent on "entertainment" the night before LOL

    Evening,
Hope you had a good day :)
A lot of young people I know think like that or their parents just give the money or the goverment:(
I just know so many older people in my situation who cant afford a house or are in debt, I don't want to be like that it's stressful.
Lol if that did happen I would happily get drunk to get my money back lol :rotfl:x

I've been naughty today :pI normally have toast and coffee in the morning than I bring a sandwich into work and have a packet of crisps. Today went different went to Greggs on my break brought a sausage roll for 90p, even though they are yummy they should really be 50p (more reasonable):money:
I than brought a BBQ wrap from KFC for £1.49 on my lunch and guess what... my sandwich is sitting in my locker right this minute :p(don't worry i'm not going to waste it will eat it on my lunch tomoz ,so no waste):money:
I than spent £1.50 on belvita breakfast biscuits in milk and cereal, they are so yummy i could eat them all in one sitting. I only brought them because they were a pound off so I'm saving in a way...
On the plus side I found 20p in the bottom of my bag, this will be the start to my savings. Don't laugh it might only be 20p but it all adds up in the end :T
Going to watch resvoir dogs than get my beauty sleep, night .

    Hey 2hearts,

Just had a read of your diary and well done for realising so soon that you need to get the debt paid off. I was completely the opposite to you when I was 18/19/20/21 ... I took out credit cards, loans, store cards and in general was a bit silly!
Im now 24, just about to turn 25 (Dont know where that time went) but im basically in £15,000 worth of debt still, and its only now ive realised how desperately I need to get it paid off, so I can start saving to get my own mortgage.

Good luck with clearing your debts! :D

    Hey thanks for reading:)
A lot of young people think getting store/credit cards loans etc are easy but when it'd time to pay and you don't have the money the interest rates are high. in my opinion I think noone should be able to get credit till they are about 25.:money:
Hope you get to say goodbye to your debt soon x:)
