Phone repair.

Hi all
Can anybody give me a bit of information I have a Samsung Gallaxy S3 on a 2 year contract with orange which has about 8 months left to run and a few weeks ago the camera simply gave up the ghost and stopped working the staff in the shop did there best to reboot the phone but with no success. The phone was sent off for repair and today I read the up date from the the repair center saying that the camera damage was beyond economic repair. Now for my problem shortly after the camera stopped working I picked up a small sharp piece of stone on the inside of the flip cover on snapping the cover over this caused the screen to crack at the edge of the call speaker, this crack has made absolutely no difference to the operation of the phone. My question is as the phone is still under manufactures warranty and has not lasted the duration of the basic contract and hence is not fit for purpose who do I approach for a replacement phone and as the crack to the screen happened after the camera failed and made no difference to the functionality of the phone should not effect the manufacturers warranty as one staff member at EE claimed it might. Sorry for being a bit long winded many thanks Johno203
