Contract ended, whose PAYG is best value for my needs?
After paying for a 24 month contract, I'm going to keep my phone - a galaxy S2 which I really love. Last night I sat down and analysed my usage over the last year. It's remarkably low, averaging about 35 minutes of talk time, 50 texts and about 100 mb data in a month (I do connect to wifi whenever available).
So I'm guessing PAYG makes economic sense for the time being. But that is where I struggle. I started to try to compare prices, but after a very short time my head hurt.
So, taking into account that most of my calls are made to my son - who is on a Tesco tariff - and to my husband - on O2 - how on earth do I work out the best deal for me?
Cheers

I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.

Giffgaff.
Its not relevant your calling O2 or Tesco phones .0 -
Also look at Three. 3p per minute or part of minute = say £1.50 a month, 2p per text (plus another 1p I think if you want a delivery report), 1p per MB, and 150 MB bonus every time you top up £5. They have an extremely annoying wheeze which converts to speech any text you send to a landline (including a landline which has opted to receive texts as texts). But this may not worry you.
More importantly, ask around to find out which networks have a good signal in places where you want a good signal. Do not believe any network's coverage map.0 -

I don't want giffgaff simply because I will lose any unused credit at the end of the month won't I?
If that is going to happen, I might as well go for a 30 day rolling tariff - I have considered Tesco's rolling 30 day at £10.00 per month., but I'd be paying for far more than I need.I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. Try the three 3-2-1 sim card. It doesn't expire so £10 will last for as long as you like. You aren't tied in, you wont lose any credit as you do on monthly PayGo deals. If it doesn't work out it's only cost you £10 to try.
Your 35 mins talk would cost £1.05, 50 texts = £1.00 and 100mb of data = £1.00 a total of £3.05 a month, significantly cheaper than a £5 a month deal
Alternatively Sainsburys (Vodafone network) are 8p a min, 4p for texts and don't expire either although data might work out expensive as it's 50p a day for up 25mb but even just a 1mb in a day would cost you 25p.
As you pay by the minute these deals are can be a much better bet than monthly PayGo which are poor value if you don't use all the minutes and don't do much data as you lose your credit at the end of the month.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -

You won't lose any credits at the end of the month. I guess you got confused between credits and bundles (goody bags).
If you don't use any bundles with Giffgaff, your bill will be
Calls = £3.5
Texts = £3.6
Internet = Hard to estimate as they charge 20 p per day per 20 MB I think
If you decide to go with Giffgaff, I think you should go for the £7.50 goody bag. With that you'll get 250 mins, unlimited texts and 250 MB internet. You'll have to renew this every month and all unused minutes and data cannot be added to next month's one.0 -
IMO, Ovivo Freedom will suit you best if Vodafone signal is OK in your places.
£20(?) for the sim, then £0 p.m. for 200+300+500
Ah, grumbler sorry, I should have said in my first post, I'm discounting Ovivo , cos lots of folk over on HotUKdeals are saying that data access has seriously gone downhill recently.
I don't use data very much, but I do want decent service when I doI try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.0 -

thanks for these suggestions guys. I've got a sim from Three, so I'll probably give them a try to see how reception is around and about.I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.0 -
This http://paygdeal.co.uk/index.html rather fine comparison site suggests "3", ASDA or giffgaff.
If the coverage of "3" is likely to be an issue, giffgaff uses the o2 network.0 -
