Cost per mile, assuming write-off tomorrow with no scrap value = 26.5 p/mile and dropping
Yep, Peugeots are great on costs per mile, had a 406 some time ago, did run on 13 P/ mile.0 -
Well we're selling our Fiesta after 4 months (runs without issue), should get £200 for it.
Cost of car less expected resale value = £100
Tax over 4 months £60
Repairs so far £35
Insurance over 4 months £240
Fuel = 13ppm
Miles covered about 4000
Cost per month = £238.75
Cost per mile = 23p0 -
This is something I am quite anal about as I do 30k miles per annum plus.
My trust Mondeo 2.0 TDCi cost me an average of 18.7p per mile during the time I owned it, incuding everything, fuel, depreciation, maintenance, tax, insurance etc.
It does help reduce the cost per mile if you do a lot of miles though. I got 120,000 miles out of it more or less and it only cost me £3,000 to buy.
The recent "stop-gap" car was pretty handy, Pug 306 TDi on a "P" plate, cost £500 to buy and I sold it for £200 during which time I covered 16,000 miles and only paid out for new front pads.
It was returning 53 MPG as well, so would have been around 16.5p per mile during that time!
Currently driving a Mini diesel and achieving 65 MPG or so, see what that turns out like.
I am currently building a website for people to track these kinds of details, if anyone wants to help test it or give suggestions please message me.Make £2018 in 2018 Challenge - Total to date £2,1080 -

You are doing remarkably well with that car.
What Car magazine put that model through their rigorous "True MPG" test and got 52.5 mpg.Forgotten but not gone.0 -
08 shogun
17-18 mpg over 7000 miles a year.
Insurance is £380
Tax for 6 months was the best part of £300
Service and mot £420 last year.
4 new mitchelins £600
Think I'll stop there, can't afford to write anymore.0 -
12 plate mini countryman,tyres about 140 each,had 5:eek:due a service soon,and I put about 30 quid a desiel in a week.its a 2 litre sd.Before you point fingers,make sure your hands are clean !;)0

My little banger costs about £10 in fuel,£8/week in devaluation and about £2 week in servicing. So roughly 20p a mile as I do about 100 miles/week
It's a Citroen C1 mk3 tax£0 insurance £1500 -
1967 Morris minor.
Over 2 years motoring, per year it's cost me:
Depreciation: -£100
Servicing & spares: £200
Insurance&breakdown: £400
Tax: £0
Fuel economy of 35ish mpg, about 6000 miles a year results in about 25p/mile. I'm looking at buying a new car for simple reliability though. They are very reliable little cars Morris Minors... except when they brake down.0 -

I do a lot of motorway miles and reckon I could get close to 70 MPG average if my wife didn't drive it sometimes - she really hurts the MPG!
I drive like an old fart, but when you are spending £600 a month on fuel as a couple, even a 10% saving is worth it.
I always do 60 on the A roads though, when conditions allow so I am not holding people up.Make £2018 in 2018 Challenge - Total to date £2,1080 -
£620 - £800 for a service?
I think you are spending far too much on servicing, have you thought of DIY? You could make some savings, get a service manual, or go to teon where they are completely free.0
