I daren't even try to work mine out, I'd cry....Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0

Oh nooo, don't tell my missus or she will make me sell it.
Lol. I can't even be bothered to calculate it. The current car is a 1.4 auto (Honda) and I've no idea. Add road tax and insurance and yes it's simply too much quite frankly. Soon we won't even get our round bit of papers worth for the road tax either.
As for the bigger car (the really thirsty one) I really don't want to know. I don't even use it now but 'er' indoors won't make me sell it. I have no fear there of that.0 -
I recently did the maths and with some horror worked out that my mk 2 focus 1.6 was bestowing on me just over 20 mpg...so as well as being an awful car it's expensive as well.......
then I went to see an RX8 today, figured if you wanna guzzle gas, at least enjoy doing it.. part ex comes to very similar . No reason why I shouldn't really......only difference is I'm sure I'll spend less time online and more time driving , paying about the same, if I'm not driving the P**s poor ford focus!!!0 -

Is that a manual or auto? Manuals are better for MPG, autos drink fuel compared to a manual.
Reason I ask is that I would be shocked if that was a 1.6 auto returning that MPG. I get 17MPG in a 2.3 auto. Your 1.6 if its a manual has something sinister going on that you need to get fixed. There is simply no way a 1.6 manual or even auto should be giving you only 3MPG more than a 2.3 auto.0 -
You have flushed the autobox 3 times in 13 months? I do advise people to change it every few years or 50,000 miles bt 3 times in a year?
£620 - £800 for a service?
You have spent more in 13 months that i have spent on mine, And I bought mine in 2009.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

There's no magic formula, just add up the total amount spent and divide it by the number of miles driven. I keep track of my accounts electronically, so it is easy for me to do as all my car related costs are stored in one category and I can just check what the total for that category is.0 -
Less than I can afford

Not much. Its old. Cost £800 3 years ago, does 15mpg (but my annual mileage is very low, maybe 5,000). Costs about £50 a year to service, needs very little to keep it going and its bulletproof reliable. Insurance is about £300 a year.0
