Yup - most people I know who feed raw add it to ensure the correct nutrients are given
I don't know a huge amount about it as it's something I've toyed with but would worry too much I'd get it wrong so ....:oGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250
£1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000

My cats like Butchers Classic and it's pretty good quality for a bargain price. I do top up my cats' food with extra protein though, they get tinned fish in oil once a week, a scrambled egg, meat trimmings, lamb heart from the supermarket, raw chicken wings when we're having chicken and "!!!!! pieces" from the fishmongers, which are basically fish trimmings. They don't necessarily get this sort of thing every day but they enjoy the variety added to their usual diet and they all look very fit and sleek.
Edit to add...The naughty word censor doesn't like the word pus^y, lol.Val.0 -
I second the Butchers Classic for a wet food! It's the cheapest non-supermarket brand and Gluten Free. I fed it to my cat Zola for a while - we had to do 'food trials' as he has had a dodgy belly since forever.
For dry food, we used Burns, which they have started selling in Pets at Home. If you contact them they send you free samples tooAs good as James Wellbeloved and half the price!
He's on Sensible 33 by Royal Canin now, because it's the only thing he can digest without issue :S
I do wonder about a raw food diet (having recently done a detox myself!). Did I read that there is a thread on here about it? Is it expensive?0 -
I feed mine Waitrose own, I think its 14% meat, which is the highest i've seen in my local supermarkets.0

I second Sheba cat food - both the trays and the pouches - my Persian, Barney loves them. He also scarfs down the Gourmet Perle pouches. He doesn't seem to mind what brand of dry food is put down for his daytime meals. As long as it is either the PAH or Gocat one! he doesn't like the expensive ones!0

I feed all of mine Royal Canin dry from Amazon on subscribe and save to get best value. I change the mix depending on whether they are looking fat or thin! long coats so difficult to tell sometimes! They all have good teeth and coats. Supplement with fish but they are fussy - they won't want salmon, will only eat certain white fish, hate cooked meat of any sort and turn their noses up at raw! They do hang around in the mornings though and form a queue for the cereal bowls - they are all prolific hunters though so guess they get the raw element from that.0

Does anyone give their cats a part raw diet, I looked into a complete raw diet a while back but it was too complicated making sure they got enough of all the right things.

Our girl gets a once a week treat with a raw fillet of fish. I buy Sainsbury's Economy Range (their own brand) - frozen pollock fillets. The pack says White fish, all shapes all sizes or something similar, but it specifies in small print that it's pollock. You'll get 420g pack for £1.68 and I find that 1 fillet is just right for 1 portion. I just take one fillet from the freezer and let it thaw overnight in room temperature on a plate covered by cling film and it's ready to be served in the morning (I cut it to small chuncks before serving). Our cat just loves it. Pretty good value I think!0
