Just needed to vent about my van being broken into!
I have just started out as a dog walker and was in fact taking my first dog on their first walk when I get back to my van and notice a stone has been thrown through the window
This happened at 1.30, I phone the police but they can't get any forensics people out until 8pm! By then any type of evidence will surely have washed away with the rain
It was my birthday two days ago so I had more money than usual in my purse too!
So my purse, my satnav and all my new business cards were taken and the person who did it will likely never be caught. Sad times

Were you purse, satnav etc in view/viewable through the windows?
Did your business cards have an address on them? Were the keys for that address also stolen?0 -

My bag was in the footwell so if someone peered in they would see it. My driving licence was in my purse with my address but no keys were left in there and I have two dogs in the house so if anyone did try to get in they would literally get their head bitten off! Maybe I should let em try!0 -
Sorry to hear that. I hope they get them.0

Aww! Might be worth investing in a personal alarm as well.0

I am sorry this happened - however, it is common knowledge that you should never leave anything in a vehicle and especially not your bag or purse.
Unfortunately, you just can't trust anyone . A lesson learned, I suppose0 -
A lesson learned for sure! And at least they only broke into my van and I wasn't mugged. Things can be replaced and I will certainly do things differently from now on. I really want whoever did it to get their comeuppance somehow though!
The forensics people didn't turn up in the end due to the amount of rain we had but a really nice police officer did come round to take more details. Luckily I had the serial number for the satnav so if it does turn up they will know its mine.
My dad goes to work at 5am every morning and this morning he saw two men in a car right outside our house. There was a random key in the bag, luckily not my house key. The thieves weren't to know that thought. My dad took the registration number of the car so hopefully the police might be able to get somewhere!0 -
As above, although I agree with your threads title and do feel sorry for you, it is well known, common sense, and regularly publicised that you should not leave valuables in your car, especially not highly nickable ones like satnavs and purses/handbags!!!!! Also, car parks/dog walking areas are exactly the sort of places that theives target.
I do hope they catch them, however there are unlikely to be any fingerprints or any DNA, the best chance is if they try to use any of the cards that you would have had in your purse or if any of the items are discovered on them during a stop and search.
