Hi, my friend is off to New York in September for 5 nights, with her partner and 2 year old. They want to stay in central New York (roughly between 35th street to 45th street) Average price per night £150 for 3. Ideally 2 double beds. Also would like views - pushy I know!! Can anyone help????

A few years ago I stayed at the New Yorker (corner of 34th and 8th) which was a very nice, historic hotel. If I remember correctly we paid $100 per night, but that was a few years ago so its probably gone up a bit since then. It was very convenient though: just down the road from the Empire State, Macy's and Broadway.

have a look at travelzoo.com - lots of offers and you book directly with the hotel and dont pay up front, just a cc to guarantee the reservation, you can cancel at any time. My favourite hotel is the Millenium Broadway, superb location.

I'd recommend doing a search on venere.com - really helpful website with lots of good maps/reviews, and reasonable prices too (which you also don't have to pay in advance)
Plus for 4% off, use code: BK5HX8W

I think it's a good idea to check out this website even if you find hotels cheaper elsewhere, as the descriptions and maps are generally better than other sites in my opinion.

    Hope that helps

PS - I don't gain anything from this post. And I found the discount code on another forum.

Venere is good for Italy, not NYC.

I've stayed at both The Marriott East Side and The Carlton on Madison, both offer 2 double beds in the room (we stayed with both of our young children in 1 room), rooms in both are a good size and both are quite central. The Marriott is better for Central Park, FAO Shwartz. The Carlton better for Macys, Empire State Building. The room at The Marriott looked up Lexington Ave, great view of Chrysler Building and of The Waldorf Astoria. In Some rooms at The Carlton you have views of ESB.
  • cant remember the name of the one we was at it was on 37th west and 9th or 8th or 10th.................. about 100 quid a night and it had a rooftop pool.

Might have been a holliday inn????

    I'll try to remember :)

we stayed at the westin times square with our 2 children, it was $299 per night and we got 3 nights for the price of 2 so for the whole 3 nights we paid £300 for the lot of us, it's 4 star, right in the centre, has 2 massive double beds (they call them heavenly beds), fab bathroom and wonderful views, it you book it direct you should be able to get good deals

it's one block down from times square on the corner of 42nd street ( 2 minute walk to times square itself)

I'd recommend this also - try going in through the US (click flag icon when on travelzoo.com website) as they appear to have some great deals at the moment:j
