Back home I belong to 2 car clubs and Toyo, Bridgestone and Uniroyal Rainsports are by far the most popular. I go with the Uniroyal as I find they last a lot longer.0

Usually it's quite the opposite.
Cheapo tyres are often harder less pliant rubber so last longer but of course they give much less grip.
Braking, especially in the wet needs a longer distance, for example.
Most folks don't use half of the capabilities of their tyres - on an everyday basis.
But top brand tyres give a level of grip that unless you've experienced it you don't believe.
It's all about safety and having reserves of grip for hazards.
Loads of folks will say that they have no need of top brand tyres and manage fine with something round and black from the 'Land of Chop-Sticks'.
Hopefully they will never find themselves in an emergency situation where they need to take avoiding action to avert an accident.
It has nothing to do with a flamboyant extreme driving style.0 -
