Problems with new laptop....

I just got a Lenovo Y510p laptop, however I have tried a few games on there and it kept saying so and so stopped working, I have tried resetting windows 8, and its still doing the same, it even does it when I try and load up the Nvidia Control Panel, the latest graphics drivers are installed.
I have checked Device Manager and there are no corruptions for Hardware. I really don't want to go through the hassle of sending it back and waiting for another laptop unless I really have to as I need it for Uni.
Specs are:
Windows 8.1
Intel Core I7 4700m
12gb Ram
Nvidia GeForce 755 GTX 2gb
1TB HDD
So far the games I have tried are:
Roller Coaster Tycoon 3
Simcity 5
Day Z Standalone
And obviously its giving it me the stopped working error on the Nvidia Control Panel... I am actually at a loss.
Any ideas how to fix this? Really don't want to go through the hassle of having to send it back to Littlewoods, and wait for a replacement.

From what you've described it sounds like you might have to send it back for repair/replacement0

Tell us about "so and so" or are these just the programs you are trying to run? e.g. "Nvidia Control Panel stopped working"CDaniels1987 wrote: »"so and so stopped working0 -
The so and so part represents the program/game I gave tried running, i.e for the Nvidia Control Panel, it says the Nvidia Control Panel has stopped working, or for Simcity it says Simcity has stopped working.
Think I am going to have to send it back to be honest.Disneyland Paris (Dream Castle) - January 2010

Have you checked that the games are in fact compatible - first one rollercoaster is not !

Sim city - many versions are not compatible.
Day Z Standalone not listed in Windows 8.1 check
So the computer may not be a problem - it could be the games are not compatible.0 -
