  • Sounds like your Wednesday is like my Thursday will be.

I hope you got some sleep :)

It's a great feeling to wrestle the finances under control isn't it. I shudder to think how much money we wasted before.

    Have a good day, Tilly x x

    Morning all,

I've awoken this morning with a really thick head which ordinary paracetamol is just not shifting. Hope I'm not coming down with something!!! Pass the Day Nurse!!!

Good SW group last evening although I ended on 99 members which was really annoying as 100 is an E category group which I have committed to keeping in my 121 with my manager. Grrrr! Will need to do some serious support this week. Mothers Day has had a marked effect on the total weight loss!

    Money wise:

Running a relief group tonight - only a small group of about 30 members but should be fun, although it's always a bit scary to go to a group you've not been to before. It's held in a pub function room! Still, all the earnings from the group will come to me.

Hopefully I'll get the last piece of information from S123 this morning so I can access online banking. My "allocation spreadsheet" is my next task to achieve because I'll be saving all my pennies in this account to get the interest so need to have "pots" within it so money is ring fenced.

Banking money from last night's group today. Also need to swap direct debits across to the new S123 account.

Bought yesterday's raffle prizes from Sainsbugs, spending £30 (Raffle took £44 the profit from which buys the tea and coffee we have in group) and using my voucher, I got 6p /litre off diesel which I'll use today as the car is running on fumes. (This saved me £3 last time).

One week to go until I get me Team payment from SW. This covers all my bills and will be £70 more than the total of my bills this month.

The last sofa payment went out on the 1st, so that's £22.42 which can be snowballed to other debts which I'll allow to build up in the S123 account to get the interest. I'm going to pay the minimums on each card plus £25.
Once the S123CC is "full", I'll make regular payments off it, so I can continue to spend on it to get the cashback.

I'm so on it at the moment - it feels very "in control".

    Have a good day

Not an auspicious start with S123!!

Just tried to set up online banking. Input all the security numbers and temporary passwords they sent me. Followed the instructions on the screen to change the passwords, set up new ones etc. Chose a recognisable picture, recognisable phrase, answered security questions etc.

    Tried to log in

    Not recognised

    Blocked

Had to ring S123 on an 0845 number!

Been told I must have done it wrong (how stupid of me!)

Now have to wait another 5 days for a new set of security numbers.

    Great!

    Hi Thistle

Sounds like you're doing so well at the moment! It took me a bit of time to get used to having different 'pots' in my 123 account, but when the interest and cashback started to arrive I soon got the hang of it!

  • Hi Thistle, grab a jar, chuck your coins in and hopefully you'll have a 'tip' jar just in case :)

You sound in such a better place at the moment, it's lovely to read your posts.

Mr T and I are planning on surprising the kids with a trip to Cornwall soon - thank you for tempting me with your recent posts :)

    Best wishes Tilly x

I don't know how I'd manage different pots within the same account if it wasn't for spreadsheets. With excel, though, it's easy. Mine even has a column for checking that all the pots add up to the same as what all the accounts add up to.

    Thanks for posting Tilly.

Cornwall is a truly magical place and we had such a relaxing time in March. It's just the right time for us as its not too busy. Enjoy your break away - it'll recharge your batteries for sure!

    Thanks for posting Lois.

It's clear that a spreadsheet will be my saviour. Don't want to buy a new kitchen and find out I've spent the income tax money!!

I have a very much updated spreadsheet this year which also has a 'total' column to so I can see the balance after each transaction. In the past I've spent hours searching for a missing or extra 32p

Anyone visiting Cornwall should be prepared to bring some suitable weather. Although the sun may have been shining on and off over the last few days, it's been completely pants until now!

You've no idea the surprises that my spending spreadsheet is chucking out!

It would appear that I am single-handedly keeping C0ke Z3r0 in business.

In other news, just got in from running a relief group to find that OH has been creating in the slow cooker so I don't need to go out for a kebab after all! Bless!
