Thanks for that, CBC - my brother has been saying similar, about a can of compressed air. I think I like the idea of blowing on it even more
The guy in the shop was full of warnings about messing with the electronics etc, but I'm sure I could do *something* for myself. I'm also storing it better - never putting it on the floor, and when used it 100% goes into a full plastic bag that covers everything. No dust
Sunny again here :j I'm off to do something outside too :jSave2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Have a nice time in the sunshine KC! :j I'm trapped inside all afternoon - just telling you so you can enjoy yet again the freedom of retirement :j
Carbootcrazy - our vaccuum broke a few months back and someone suggested I check Gumtree - I did and got a fully working reconditioned Dyson for £30 :money: much better than the cheapo one I'd had before and half the cost! It was properly cleaned and had several new parts too. Might be worth checking.
Love your net worth spreadsheet antics KC! :j0 -

Great idea, Cheery:j. Congratulations on your bargain buy:T. Thanks very much for the tip.
I have to confess that I've never had anything to do with Gumtree, never even visited the website:o. I'm going to remedy that right away:)0 -
Trying to think who I feel like right now. Prufrock, listening to the mermaids singing? Or Theseus, tying himself to the mast
You want to avoid thinking like that:- after the ropes come the whips, then the books and then the film deal...5. Some of those cash ISAs are at derisory rates, needs attention.
Do it now! If you hurry, you can squeak it in before the end of the financial year. Thanks for that, CBC - my brother has been saying similar, about a can of compressed air. Don't know what he's complaining about, compressed air/gas is used all the time. Turn the machine upside down so the crap drops out. Otherwise all you're doing is rearranging your biscuit crumbs inside the case.I'm also storing it better - never putting it on the floor, and when used it 100% goes into a full plastic bag that covers everything. A plastic bag is not ideal. Static buildup can be a problem, and electronics tend to object to 50,000 volts up the wazoo. Paper bags are fine - they're conductive at static voltages, but not at more sensible voltages."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Good tip, ZTD:T
Cylinders of compressed air are on sale at computer shops anyway and readily available. I intend to buy one as my free method of blowing into the grille causes whatever's inside to shoot back into my face:eek:. I clean it routinely now and very little comes out but the first time there was loads:o. Some of YouTube's videos showed using a vacuum cleaner hose instead. That's the trouble with these DIY fixes, some of them are positively harmful:eek:. I've seen dire warnings of dislodging the fan and probably other components if using a vacuum hose for sucking the dust/debris out instead of the recommended blowing it. My vac would only suck and not blow:( so my only free option was to just give it a few big blasts of lungpower.0 -
8. Exchange rate I used was the one on offer today from Transferwise, which is how I send money abroad. Better than the bank by about 4 cents per euro.
Thanks for this KC - I'll hopefully need to make a payment to the debt collectors this week - will use Transferwise if they'll send to Ukraine!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

I like the tip about paper vs plastic to keep the dust off, thank you Z
Transferwise - madvix, they've always been as good as their word, and I've used them for about 4 years now, but do your due diligence just in case, yes? I'd hate for something to go wrong.
Just had an email this morning from the bleeping French management company, asking for the E131.12 I sent last weekafter "updating" direct debit info with my bank. Is it any wonder I hate my French apartment? Mustn't say that
instant karma will get me, but I do
And my modem is playing upswitching it on and off twice this morning, running the troubleshooter, I hate my modem too
Never mind. I still love my dishwasher
Admin and house type stuff this morning, including working on the details for catsitting for my youngest nephew and his wife :j:j:j two rescue cats who've started to allow stroking :j2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Modem still playing up. Not impressed
but I'm taking it slow today, feel quite tired. I have been:
- mucking about with modem every ten minutes
- tried to listen to a National Archives webinar but guess what, modem stopped me
- paid in two little cheques from the previous Unit Trust thingy (totalling £11, they really are little)
- sorting scanned photos, duplicates, retitling, some different versions are good, all from the 1960s, fascinating to see
- opened the post so I could carry on sorting the finance stuff, all very easy. No reply yet from the French management company asking for a payment I'd already made. Hi ho ...2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

I'm sorry you are having modem woes, I can really empathise:kisses3:. When my broadband connection was dropping out at least once an hour over several days I was going demented with frustration:mad:. A change of service providers has done the trick. Early days yet but my fingers are almost totally uncrossed now:rotfl:
No wonder you feel tired. I often think trying to do things and being thwarted by circumstances beyond our control is more draining than actually doing the work. I'm one of life's procrastinators:o but when I do eventually decide to do something I hate anything or anybody to stop me;)
I'm sending positive vibes your way and a relaxing drink of whatever you find refreshing:coffee:0 -
