That makes me feel better about having to drag the packages across my floor one at a time, whereas he lifted two at once
I'm having a slow daysent a congratulatory email, as another family baby is on the way :j and finalised MyWaitrose picks, ready for the new store to open tomorrow, put the dishwasher on (whoop de doo, I'm desperate for something to put on the list :rotfl:), oh, and done a lot of photo categorising. And thats that
.
I think I'd better go re-acquaint myself with the garden.Save2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I *did* re-acquaint with the garden - bit of ivy has gone, bit of box hedge has gone (thats taking ages), grids have been cleaned and disinfected :j ditto plugholes in kitchen and bathroom :j which makes me feel incredibly virtuous and accomplished :rotfl: and the place smells nice again2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Thats great Karma. Are you thinking of anything to do with the making money schemes at the moment?15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j
Progress not Perfection0 -
I'm very reluctant to start up a moneymaking project, or even take up the reins on an existing one, when there's so much thats still to be done on the "maintenance" level, though I know they have to overlap at some stage
but just in the kitchen, for instance, there's a skirting board thats not been cleaned properly for quite a few years, and I've never moved the fridge freezer to clean behind it or clean the coils. I can *see* behind it because its right by the door, but tbh I'm freaked out about moving it because of what else might be with the fanged dust bunnies :o :o :o
The most I want to do right now on the moneymaking side is a couple of blog posts, and then finish off the travel book for kindle. But my laptop is buzzing, and on investigation, that means my hard drive is probably dying .... everything's backed up, which is something. So today:
- phone the freegle woman re picking up the insulation.
- go visit the new waitrose.
- possibly go to the old sainsbo, to pick up some of my beloved pesto
- go to the laptop shop with my poorly computer.
Trouble is, those things are three completely different directions from my house :rotfl: talk about first world problems, hey?2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
One day/direction at a time lovely KC!
Pick one for today & tomorrow is another day!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (23 AUG 2021)New projection - 14 YEARS 10 MONTHS LEFT OF 20 YEARS (reduced by 15 mths)Psst...I may have started a diary!0 -
Yes, when you are retired, one job a day is quite sufficient!Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
Update:
- phone the freegle woman re picking up the insulation.
Yes - but she was going to a memorial service, so she'll phone me back.
- go visit the new waitrose.
Yes - didn't buy anything, it was utterly rammed. Lot of money in this town still!
- possibly go to the old sainsbo, to pick up some of my beloved pesto
No - I'm hoping I can get a pick your own 20% discount on the Waitrose pesto, which is best of all, and would make it cheapest of all
- go to the laptop shop with my poorly computer.
Yes - and I've picked it up since :j it was dust clagging the fan  all mended now.
RT, SSS - thank you!
Actually, its shocking how much more time you have without the computer to waste ut:o:o must use the computer more wisely. Cleaned that skirting board, the bedroom, the mats I wanted spring cleaned, all sorts
house smells much fresher, though I'm still only halfway done

So, today is 1st April  Recalibrating priorities :j and initial aim is going out twice a week. Midweek, I'll see if my sister wants to go up and do touristy things in London, then I'm seeing a friend on Saturday, then the Monday after that I'm going to a local chanting thing. Thats a good start.
Plus I'm not going to have gardening as my only exercise - its great for the top half, but non-existent for legs and digestive processes, so I'm off walking today somewhere, even just to the shops and back is a start. Plus more gardening, a.k.a. navvying, there are sacks of Wilko goodness all over the place ...2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Computers/technology are such a big time hog. It's amazing how much trouble people have finding things to do without them though - especially in the workplace.
I'm glad your laptop was a cheap repair, always good if things aren't as bad as you expect! Have a great weekend.0 -
Thanks EE
I'm still on the basics really, of cleaning and all that, which was a bit of a shock to my system :rotfl: but I shall be more mindful of how long I spend on it in future - we only pass this way once, seems a waste to use it playing freecell
Cleaning the laptop was £40, they told me beforehand - I thought I'd have to have a new hard disc, at least, so you're right, it was bargainous.
I also checked at the local cycle shop what I might need to spend to bring the bike I bought about 20 years ago up to snuff. Never used it, and its been sat in my brick shed, not exactly exposed to the elements, but not really protected either. New tyres, new brakes, gears spring cleaned, £110, less than half the price of a "retired lady in the local town" type bike. So repair it is :jSave2023: the year I get to buy a car0
