Yep, they're still good
So, the altered 2014-15 figures are now submitted, for good or ill ... I won't submit 2015-26 until HMRC's computer has digested the first lot, I suspect it would be asking for trouble to submit both at once
Bit more work on getting stuff in the house ready for the tip run: there's a DIY wardrobe built into an alcove, with cushions and various bits and bobs on the top of its "roof". Two paper lampshades which I kept because I particularly liked have died in storagethough the frame of the very best one (handmade in a local town) is still okay, just not the paper. I might keep it.
Cushions taken down from there, surface wiped thoroughly, stuff is nearly ready to be recycled. The mist has turned wet with the extra warmth, I'm not keen on doing much outside work today - its plausible that the rest of whats needed could go into the incinerator, and the leaves gradually into the bin .... we'll see.
Dredging the freezer of quorn and onions, putting them together with anything else I can lay my hands on [STRIKE]Need to do a little bit of shopping to throw together a meal[/STRIKE], just in case my bro and sister come over here tomorrow instead of Friday, arrangements are a bit flexible.
So, to do list:
- finish sorting the cushions.
- carry on with snapping photos of letters and images (I've got to my lurvely SF images now).
- Desperation Cookingif they try to go to my local chippie I'll pout
- get ready to submit the next English accounts.
- do the French accounts for France.
- buy The Sun
Oh dear, I'm supposed to look at the post. I don't want toI'm getting quite allergic to the post for some reason at the moment. Such is life ...
Hope all's good with everyone - and that you all feel like opening your post :rotfl:Save2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
We haven't had any post here today (unusually) - and yesterday's was only a bank statement (savings ac) and some flyers - so all easily dealt with
Sounds good for the accounts

Good luck with the post! I rarely get any these days, even bank statements are online now. Mostly junk and the odd seed catalogue and charity bid. Mr Cheery didn't open his post for several years  When I did it years later in one go, quite a lot of it was rubbish anyway :rotfl: But he'd missed a couple of refunds for stuff, and a letter offering the chance to object the people over the road building an extension which now entirely blocks our view of down the hill to the city. Too late to do anything about it now!
(I'm sure you wouldn't leave ALL your post for several years KC, tempting as it is sometimes  :rotfl: ) Was just musing, sorry
Damp mist doesn't sound remotely pleasant, hope it cleared up0 -
You do seem to be doing a lot, I don't know how you found the time to work
Great news on the tax and I hope the mould situation clears. I have some spray stuff for the bathroom which states it is a black mould killer, although it smells mostly of bleach.
I too leave my post for ages, as you say, most of it is rubbish. Even after I unsubscribe to everything & use mail preference service, there still seems to be a lot. I can't say I've left it quite as long as Mr Cheery though, maybe a month or two.0 -

Surface cleaning takes priority right now, in case bro and sister end up here today  bleach is down the loos, kitchen sink is cleaned, dishwasher has finished it's cycle. I may even clean the hob again :rotfl:Save2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Morning :hello:
Brother and sister *did* end up here on Thursday. And Friday too :j
The entire laurel hedge has departed my propertythough I wanted some of the wood, and all of the holly and other branches, to remain, slowly drying out so I could burn them in the incinerator, then add the ashes to the garden for nutrition.
A lot from the house has also gone - armchairs that died in storage, the foam belonging to them, a lawnmower that died, various metal bits and bobs, old dried up paint and more.
Best of all - the horrible brick shed, my brother just ploughed in there and emptied it  he was amazing, it's practically pristine.
They left here at lunchtime, to get the van back for its scheduled return, and I just stoppedthe only thing I did then was cook some pasta and a bit of a sauce. Recuperating :j but good to go now :j
To- do list, and maybe a year plan, is on the cards for this weekend, so I can see the shape of what I want to do.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Ooh, like the sound of a year plan
Yay to the laurel! :j :j most impressive :j
I LOVE Getting Things Done and implement fiercely (to great effect) at work (where I have a reputation for being highly efficient, organised and productive) - but never managed to implement at home (where I am a slovenly mess):rotfl: never realised about the post though - must have deliberately ignored that bit as I rarely get post at work so when I do I'm too excited to wait
You've made me curious about what I *do* get in the post now - yesterday was clubcard money off vouchers (useless as i never spend that much), charity campaign letter, and magazine which i've now cancelled subscription too. Which reminds me I haven't even read last month's issue yet!
So pleased your brother and sister were able to help get rid of all that stuff! :j0 -
Thank you Cheery
Isn't it interesting that we can apply a system in one area of our lives, but not another? I definitely do that.
GTD is brilliant, isn't it - I think I read it on your rec, actually, and I loved it. Most post these days is really rubbish, though the Royal Mail still comes into it's own over Christmas, and bereavements too, actually, lots of people sent cards, and small tokens of appreciation as well.
As far as finances go - I haven't gone paperless yet because of income tax returns, but I don't send any paper at all to my French accountant, I transfer it all to jpegs. Still keep the papers though, especially for HMRC.
I have a *today* to do list: backing up the computer, washing machine on, sweeping the floor (huge amount of garden rubbish on the floors!), buy a train ticket so I can continue doing the probate work, submit the tax return (situation re the 2014-15 tax return should be sorted out now), move some money around, that sort of thing. None of it will take a huge amount of time, but it adds up.
There's sunshine :j:j:j2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
A most cathartic few days!
Hooray for a visit from the siblings & all the help the provided with the clear out!
Your chi must be moving well it's no wonder an annual plan is on the list!
... and just in time for (Chinese) New Year too!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage! (23 AUG 2021)New projection - 14 YEARS 10 MONTHS LEFT OF 20 YEARS (reduced by 15 mths)Psst...I may have started a diary!0 -
You know what, RT, my chi *is* moving, at the speed of light, it must be! The laurel being gone certainly helps
- the air flow is lovely already. The brick shed next to my bathroom (which is downstairs) is clean, and that makes me feel better too.
So here's a ta-da list, absolutely all done and dusted.
- backed up the computer (necessary with all the scanning and photographing I've been doing!).
- two loads of washing through the machine and out on the line.
- transferred money to current a/c (going through that account like water, which is scary, but the only discretionary spend in the whole of January has been £13 on DVDs on Amazon, which can be resold.
- bought train ticket to go see my brother and work on the probate stuff.
- checked the 2014 15 tax submission - I did have to pay more, £70 or so. But knowing that its filled out correctly gives me immense joyMoney already paid, as I have a credit with HMRC.
- submitted 2015 16 tax figures. That'll be paid immediately too, covered by the credit (overpayment).
Astonished I've done that lot! :j
Slightly odd situation has arisen, that I'd arranged to meet up with the widower of the ex-friend that died last year, he was always my science buddy and we always had a laugh, we'd been texting about it earlier this month. And now he's not replying - I thought it was only me that flaked out on arrangements like that! I'm sure the universe is telling me something about thisthough its important not to make assumptions, but I'm listening.
