Thank you all for the messages, lovely peeps, its keeping my spirits up :kisses3:
I think it's you who keeps our spirits up, KC, not vice versa;). Whatever health and other issues you've had you always managed to find something positive. Nothing ever quenches your spirit and enthusiasm for long:A
What I really dropped in for today (apart from to be part of your excitement:beer:) was to mention the dreaded foam:rotfl:. I recall your mentioning once (after you'd enlightened us about what the foam really was) that you were going to need help (from your sister I think) to dispose of it. Forgive me if I've got this wrong.
Instead of you both wearing yourself out why don't you try your local Freecycle/Freegle group? I'm a big Freecycler and have disposed of lots of big, bulky stuff that way. A lot cheaper than one of our local authority 'special' big-item refuse collections:eek:. Much less energy sapping than several trips to the tip too;).
Basically, you just log in and post an ad of what you want rid of. Trust me, there's always someone who wants what others don't:j. You choose one of the respondents, contact them to arrange a time and give your address details. They come and collect, job done. No money must change hands, it's a free service to stop things going to landfill.
I've disposed of all sorts over the years, such as decent carpets which still had plenty of life in them but were not really saleable as such. People like allotment holders like old carpet, they use them to smother large areas of weeds I think. Goodness knows what anyone would need your foam for but there's always someone.....
A clear description of its properties is a must.0 -
Ooh, nothing on Friday - does that really mean you've only got ONE DAY LEFT?! :j :j :j :j0

Yes it does :j:j:j:j
And I'm awfully happy about it  today was a tough day.
Onwards, though
CBC - the foam was just about okay when I moved here, but after nearly 7 (more) years of use, it's badly deteriorated, and it doesn't have any life left in it, I'm afraid. It's dirty in all sorts of unspeakable waysbut freecycle is always good to be reminded of, thank you!
Last session finishes at 4, tomorrow. First piece of foam is in the bin. I shouldn't have recycled my electric carving knife yet, thats the only thing that will cut the stuff up ... I think some sellotape is called forSave2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Whaaat?:huh::huh: You finally lost me completely, Z
believe me, if an accelerant was used on that lot, the toxic fumes would be as nothing to the almighty explosion :eek::eek:
You've sold it to me already.
Besides, weren't you complaining that you had stuff in the garden with too many leaves and branches on?
Win-win!I'm not going to go there :rotfl:

Z, so I could multi task by blowing up the foam? I'd get rid of the foam *and* the cherry laurel that needs to be cut back? As you say, win-win
Knit Witch, RT - I can't quite believe it's nearly here. I lost the capacity to look forward to things for a while back in the day, and I can tell you now I've thoroughly recovered it :rotfl:
Retired sister is in France, retired brother is in Wales, even though I'll still be in England, I'm perfectly okay with handing on the baton of work to the next generation
So, I need to make £200k from the writing- another £100k to buy a detached house, and £100k to add to the pension pot. Simples. Oh my word, my house is going to be my own after tomorrow :j
