Aw, that's lovely that people are sending you farewell messages
You've been such an important part of their lives for quite a while in some cases I'd imagine.
Two feet of garden is not to be sniffed at! :j :j :j0 -
That's true, we are, recovering from really bad early trauma can take a long time. People dedicate things to us, write nice things about us on therapy forums, my partner even had a business named after him
A few times, though, I've met the children, or sometimes just seen pictures, and that's gorgeous
The garden was important too, absolutely! Overgrown box hedge etc all over it, so I couldn't get in there to cut the grass or keep it remotely weed-free, its been a nightmare, and became quite oppressive, actually. It's going to be lovely!Save2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Morning! All's well at sea
Got to deal with an insect-like situation at the top of the stairwell, right where I can't reach, grrr. No idea how to do it, I'm hoping it will crawl somewhere I *can* reach.
Otherwise, today is about charging the hedgetrimmer lent to me by my sister, and making *very* merry with the hedge where I've been dismantling the holly and rhodendron
I may also check the local blackberry situation :jSave2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Think we need you in our garden, KC.
Glad the meeting went well. Had you made up after "email gate"?0 -

O.K. it is definitely time for an eye test - just sat here for five minutes trying to figure out what the "passing of two flies" was code for! (and every one of those thoughts was a bit off-colour :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:)
When I first read the post back, I read it as 'passing of the flies', and I had typed it in the first place!Early retired - 18th December 2014
If your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough0 -
Funny day today - I was exhausted after work, though it went really well, and spent the morning using the washing machine, working on the client files and fetching an Amazon parcel - so the tax papers filing is *still* undone. Lets face it, I really, really don't want to do it, and I can't seem to make myself - prime example of what I've written sparked by Cheery as above - I don't have willpower for every section of my life!
Then the interweb connection went downand I could have easily thrown my toys out of the pram - but the guy was really good, he even found me a £5 a month saving - I've double-covered myself for calls to mobiles, apparently, and thats how much I could save. But there was static on the line, and he wanted to read the new agreement out, and I could hear ominous phrases but not much else. And he won't send me a written copy until I've agreed to it - fat chance! I had to bellow over the static "I don't agree" .... I'm sure I'll go ahead with it, if it's anything approaching what he described before the line static started, but I'm not prepared to agree to a contract verbally if I've no idea at all what its saying ....
Still, the garden was lovely :j
Having recently had my own interweb woes, I feel your pain. We have a long way to go until the internet is as reliable as the other utilities.
I don't like it when they read out a load of conditions on the phone. My mind goes really blank and I have to struggle to stay focussed. There's nothing like having something in writing, whether it's by post or emailEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Yet it's almost becoming a necessity for normal life now. Obviously someone isn't thinking that through...Goldiegirl wrote: »I don't like it when they read out a load of conditions on the phone. Which is why they do it: "Of course we told you over the phone you'd have to sacrifice your first-born to the Turnip Deity of Sweeeeede. Do you not remember?""Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

More crisis gardening :rotfl: - SHS, I'm really not sure if you'd want me as your gardener. I didn't do the hedge, I stuck more or less entirely to the border nearest the house, which is mostly alchemilla, oregano, chives, some more dammmm wild strawberries, my lovely lemon balms. And grass! I was clearing a spot for some sage, right by the path onto the grass, but I think it might be too crowded - might be better to have something very low there, I'll have a think. Got to weed in between plants, got to!
