On the hair front - I have short hair, but I still have it coloured.

When I was younger, I had very fair hair, and it got darker as I grew older. The colour I use is similar to what I used to be naturally, so it feels very 'me'

I have my hair cut every six weeks, and colour put in about 3 times a year (used to be more often, but I have cut back.)

I know I have some grey hair, but I'm not 100% sure how much, as I always have at least some dye on my hair.

Like CBC, I wonder how much damage years of chemicals have done

I sometimes wonder whether to grow all the colour out - just to see what it looks like.

But then no one would recognise me, and I wouldn't even recognise myself! It's a quandary!

Anyway I only popped in to say Merry Christmas KC and to all who read this thread !

Thank you all! One thing I've learned over the years about planning is that the little everyday steps need to be ones that tie in to your bigger aims. Sounds so simple, that, but it really helps to spell it out and keep checking that you're going the way you want to go :)

I *am* going the way I want to go :)

But the windowsill isn't currently included in that - still, the hob (which wasn't *as* dirty, but still needed a clean :D) is now clean. And I did 45 mins in the garden, which felt really good. Lots of ex-sedge plants and ex-strawberry plants in another bag :D

CBC - I sleepwalked into life stages several times, and sometimes when I thought I was planning, I really wasn't (as my witness, m'lud, I present The French Apartment). But although my big retirement plans are so indefinite (that last point is the giveaway - living here/renting it out/selling it) I'm determined to be ready to rocknroll :j Even if I get ill, it won't be the big deal it is now, because I won't have clients to be inconvenienced, less pressure, it'll be fine.

The grey hair, though, CBC - I understand those worries. I've only used hair dye about twice, this will be the third. My issue is the chemicals, as you mention - there's so much skin cancer in my family, I've never wanted to go down that route myself. As for the look of dyed hair growing out - I quite like it :o have a look halfway down the page on this blogpost, which is actually talking about the same thing http://livinginanotherlanguage.com/of-weird-wednesdays-and-leibster-awards/

I'd say let it go, save the money (maybe use something else on the ends sometimes? A colour spray? Food dye?) but don't pretend it isn't happening, that *will* look little old lady. My hair is really, really grey, and some people think I'm 10 years younger then I actually am :D

Don't be ashamed! Please! Humans like to look good, I actually think thats part of our genetic background by now, but *what* looks good is a matter of taste - I like the shaggy look, personally, which is a bl**dy good job for the state of my hair, but its true :j:j:j

  • Evening, just dropping by re the hair debate. I go to our local college which operates a mini hair salon environment to help the students learn. It may be worth contacting the local colleges and checking if they do anything similar.

It is massively cheaper and if you have appointments with the last year students, they are extremely capable.

Re the grey, this is a very 'on trend' colour now (get me ;)) and you could have you hair high/low highlighted with two or three colours. The latest products are far more gentle on your hair as well.

    Merry :xmastree:

    Best wishes Tilly x x x

:rudolf:Thank you beanie, Tilly, Squirrel :santa2:

The local college might be just the thing for CBC - mine, I'm afraid, specialises in agriculture :p it has sheep, cows, even pigs - one time, there was a sign on the bridge over the stream that said "rooting pigs" and no, they weren't growing roots, they were actually walking up the stream hunting for whatever-lives-underneath-pebbles :j

This is it! The Day! Funny old world :)

    :hello::hello::hello:

Well, I survived that in good shape :) and much joy was had in exchanging lovely things :j I *did* forget that no matter how much my brain wants it, a second cup of coffee is a really, really bad idea :o that didn't go well in my digestive system at all :D

Today! My word. There may be a walk. There may even be gardening. Yummy leftovers of quorn and cashew nuts are ready to be called into action, as is the redcurrant sauce I forgot, oops.

And late last night I bought some stuff in the sales - stencilling supplies, I intend to get those cat stencils going come hell or high water. Checked Amazon out just in case, but these guys were a one stop shop https://www.handover.co.uk/ and they have the royal seal of approval, which is downright impressive :rotfl:so lot of paper, two brushes, low tack spray and one of those craft knives that you snap blades off came to £12 delivered, on Amazon I'd have had to pay a lot more delivery charges and a bit more on the accessories in any case.

Other stuff I want to buy is very minimal - I need a few more serving bowls, two of mine broke this year :( but I really don't need anything more. I lurk on the kondo thread, and I'm going to work on my tops and blouses, I think. I'm terrified of what I might find :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

There was gardening, i.e. weeding! Lots of little areas are getting joined up - so much so that I reached the dying buddleia at the very edge of the garden :) and cut it back a bit more. A few shovelfuls of soil and bark chippings have made their way onto the garden, its looking better.

Still obsessing about flood warnings - mum and brother are both on the edges (bro has a red one :( ) and they have to drive past another red one to get home from the rellie they're visiting ... I'll be glad when they're both home, at least she can just get upstairs if there's flood water outside.
