How much would be the renovation cost of this bungalow?

I know its difficult to get an accurate analysis, but a rough estimate would be good to know.

Thanks

  • We just spent 35k on a renovation of a 2/3 bed chalet bungalow.

this did include structural work (removing wall and new lintels), full new plumbing, heating, bathroom, electric rewire; new, not cheap, kitchen, windows, plastering, full decorating carpets etc.

And we thought we got a good deal from the builder

Depends on how much you can do yourself and to what standard you intend doing the work.

Whats the bathroom like, does that need doing too?
It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Another estate agent is selling the same property. Is this unusual?
  • Would you be doing this with the intention of living in the property, and if so would this be long term? You wouldn't want to spend so much you would take it above the road/area ceiling price if you intend selling soon......

I guess another question would be how 'handy' are you or how much work are you willing to put in yourself.

For instance I have just repainted, and still in the process of some of it, our new house. Painting every wall, ceiling, door, skirting board. If I were to get someone else to do it I am sure would have cost £1000s just for the labour involved.
Am doing most of it myself and just the cost of the paint, brushes etc.

It looks all right to me..... new bathroom suite and some kitchen unit doors.... maybe worktop. Job's a good 'un.

It all depends on your expectations, taste, budget.

I can't see any radiators, is it warm air heating? you might need to budget for central heating.

You'll need a new kitchen, new bathroom and to pimp up the carpets and paint work in each room.

Budget is down to you really - how expensive do you want your kitchen to look? £5k or £50k?

Looks fab. I don't think it needs anything doing to it.
