Text messages still on old sim, can they..............

When I bought a new phone last week, I wanted one sim free as I have a sim only contract. The phone I selected came with a compulsory £20 top-up. Because my wife has a payg, we simply made the top-up over to her phone.

We were told in the shop (orange) that she might receive a text stating her current sim needed changing to the new one. She did and we swapped it over.

Last night she realised that there were some text messages on the old sim, that she wanted to keep (sentimental).

I am now of the opinion that if I go to the orange shop, they might be able somehow to transfer the text messages to the new sim.

Or, would it work if I put the old sim back in her phone, and forwarded the messages individually to my phone then when that was done, re-inserted her new sim and I send them back to her?.

If that is a yes, would anything from the new sim be lost?

I don't know if you'll be able to forward texts from the old sim card if it has been deactivated, if the phone is a smart phone, maybe she would be able to see if she can save them somehow to the phone memory? Or if there is an app you can download, take a screen shot of the messages and keep them as image files on the phone memory?

I know when I have backed up old phone and transferred the data on to my new phone that saved messages have also been transferred. It may be worth looking on the phone manufacturer's website to see if there is a forum discussing this.
