Old style daily thread Thursday 16th January

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
Back to not sleeping last night and am exhausted again today.
Am really glad I have the redundancy money used sensibly, so there are no silly temptations. The amount put aside for possible tax adjustments is stashed in the savings account, if it's not all needed for tax, it will go towards debt again. Thanks for the supportive comments yesterday, as always they were greatly appreciated.
Pea and pancetta soup tonight and bean salads for lunches.
Usual dash as getting ready for work.
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or want them. Keep well, warm and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Good Morning TTFTM & all to follow
Sorry you had a bad night TTFTM, hope you get through the day ok.
Wow its Thursday already, week is flying by. OH is at work today (yay) but dont think will get DS to schoolhe really wants to go in tomorrow as he has practical lessons all day so will see how that goes. Didn't want to get stressed or angry about it this morning so have just left him - need to chase Doc's as they haven't got back to me with his blood results.
So today's plans - in the office this morning, going to pop to my 2nd job to see when they want me to start - am hoping its sooner rather than later as am seriously skint.
This afternoon will be a pottering one and will need to sort something for dinner. Nothing exciting but nothing too horrible either :rotfl:
Have a great day.x0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Now getting light, not raining, but still wet underfoot, looks like we "might" get some time today when it's not raining!
DH up and gone to work stupid early.
Dinner last night ws beef casserole, dumplings, mash, and veg. Prepped it all and put it in the slow cooker yesterday morning, am really pleased I did as DH finished up not getting home until 7pm so it had just continued to cook steadily and wasn't burned and ruined. Tonight I think I may make a lasagne, both boys have requested this saying we haven't had it for a long time, so will serve it with chips for them, salad for me.
Haven't been hugely productive this week off, but there are jobs that needed doing that I have done. Just have had a CBA mood all week, although have done some jobs each day. Have washed, dried and ironed every day. Then have done several jobs on pc and made telephone calls, changed beds, sorted a couple of piles of paperwork, shredded docs that were no longer needed, sorted several debts, also registered my debit card as bank are now doing a cashback scheme each time you use your debit card, did some caravan related work, did some research into new recipes, ingredients etc. Today I will endeavour to get housework done, so at least I go into the weekend with a relatively clean and tidy house and the washing, drying and ironing up to date, will need to doing some cooking/baking at some point but that can be tomorrow or Saturday morning as DH at work. I'm back to work on Monday.
Had a bit of good fortune yesterday, I use a games website that gives 6 free goes a day - managed to win a small amount on that I then used to continue playing with on a new game and somehow managed to win £25 for no outlay - result! Have withdrawn the win straight away and will use it to put towards paying off a debt. Have also spent some time checking interest rates etc on the remaining debts so I can ensure I pay off the most expensive first, hoping that by the 1st April we will have very little debt left, get that paid off and can then start saving some and putting some aside to start making lump sum overpayments on the mortgage.
Have also taken some extra hours at work, not particularly what I want to do but feel as it doesn't interfere with home life and DH is working those days as well it's not going to make any difference that I'm working, the extra will go towards paying off debt/overdraft.
Need to crack on now.
Keep safe and well x

I've got the district nurse coming today, staples out, yuck, be glad when it's done.
Going to do some crochet now I'm feeling more myself. Managed another eBay sale and listed 6 more items.
Hubby is out at a business meeting, dinner tonight so I might have a fish from the chippy.
Not much else, have a good day xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Morning
Today DD1 has another play date (at her favourite museum!) and then my friend is coming over for lunch. Had a panic on as to what we could have for lunch as the cupboards are bare, and I have no margarine, or any oil to make rolls (as I always have soup) luckily I found a jar of red pesto, pumpkin seeds and I have a tablespoon of grated cheese... So it looks like pesto pasta
Dinner tonight is a new favourite Chicken Jambalaya using LO Chicken from a week ago!
And as today is the last day of or food 'month' I have MrA and MrS deliveries between 6-8pm!!! Woohoo!
Hope everyone has a great day x
TTFTM - did you not take £20 for a small treat? That's what I did when I was made redundant... Just a small treatWe spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. Morning all, our Aussie visitors went home yesterday and it seems quiet without our three year old granddaughter around, hate the goodbyes at the airport.
Now restoring the house to pre visit order!
DH has decided to retire early, at the end of March, at the age of 62, so things will be tight but manageable. Things are quiet at his work so rather hoping redundancy or place closing will happen, although unlikely.
Hugs to all, have been trying to catch up her and there when I was able.Carolbee0 -
Morning all,
Seems to have rained in the night but ok now, off to work for me, dd will be at home though so will have a tidy round for me.
Got my shopping being delivered tonight and I will have to out a wash on.
Something with chips for dinner, maybe some breaded chicken, will go and rummage in the freezer.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all,
Flippin' annoyed this morning with Healthcare at Home: they used to be great but the last two months they are PANTS. They make big boasts about advising the 2 hour delivery slots - so you can plan things around it. Now the system is not working. So, after spending hours and pounds on the phone to arrange the delivery, you have to sit in all day waiting. It is probably no big deal to most people, but when you can't get up / down the stairs easily or quickly and need the loo ... so, today I shall be sitting cross legged phoning people to say "I have no idea if or when I can get out of the house"....:o:mad::p
Busy day eating otherwise: Slimming World Red day for us as I ease myself back into the different plans etc. It did feel weird eating bacon and egg this morning
I shall now sew myself into a good moodI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Morning,
DH and DS2 gone to work and school. Bit miffed with DS, he is on his second week of report. His head of year rang this morning and is keeping him back for an hour after school so he can do an essay that was set on 5th December!! I am not amused, especially as I made a point of asking him this morning if ALL his homework was up to date  I've tried being both laid back and nagging/hard on him but it doesn't seem to make much difference.
DS1 and DD are off on their respective holidays this morning. They live separately with their partners and coincidently booked trips to Mexico and Rome for the same weekDS1 is on the ill fated Dreamliner, I just hope the battery lasts!
Think I may do chicken curry for tea and have got some pears and rhubarb out to defrost for a pie or crumble for afters.
Enjoy your day.0 -
Just about to make brekkie for dh and dd and then walk down to library to change books and avoid a fine.
Need to get some nice eggs from weekly market and maybe treat dd and myself to a lunchtime snack . DH has some of last night's chicken curry in fridge so he will be happy.
We have a family funeral next week for elderly relative and means quite a bit of driving. As it might be a bit much for us to drive there and back in one day have suggested we investigate places to stay overnight.
Can tell DH is chewing things over in his mind and getting a bit stressed although he would be quite indignant if I said so bless him.
Just going to strip our bed before going downstairs and shuffling into action.
Hugs to possesion, Hester, luxor, Julie and anyone who could use one."This site is addictive!"
