Hi I've been to Garda twice and loved it (37 now). Also visited the other lakes. I completely adore the Italian way of life - the food and wine are lovely too! Am slowly working my way around the country.
I stayed in Riva the first time, loads to do and fairly busy. Lots of lovely restaurants and bars- interesting name for the bike hire shop!.
Stayed in Limone the second time and this was by far my favourite. Much better restaurants and bars IMO and much prettier. Both times visited places around the lake. Went to Malcesine both times and said I would go there again. Both times the weather wasn't good enough to go up on the cable car.:( I liked Sirmione as well. I'd personally be happy to stay in either. Wasn't personally as keen on Garda itself and found Lazize (think that's how you spell it) and Bardolino well worth a visit but wasn't as keen to stay there. I stayed in August both times. I also LOVED Verona and Venice.
