Refused online banking with Santander

Why would I be refused online banking with Santander? Anyone else had this problem? I've been with them for yrs and I mean years. Opened an account with N&P, then Abbey National took them over. So over 20 yrs.
I am considering switching to either Lloyds or Nat West, as I am totally miffed with this. I've tried twice only the receive an email to say "no".
I have a small overdraft of £200 which I go into a few days before payday (who doesn't), and a couple of credit cards with balance transfer on them (less £400 on one & £800 on the other, and I do not use them to make any purchases as I have no pin with them). I would like to ensure I know how much I have in the bank without having to visit a cash machine.
So just wandering is it me or are they really that [EMAIL="c@@@p"]c@@@p[/EMAIL].

Are you saying you have accounts with Santander that you can operate in Branch but not online? If so
- how have you applied for the online access
- what explanation have you been given for not getting online access, and by whom
- are the accounts you have advertised as having online access
- what does your local Branch say about the rejections

No the OP is not confused
N&P is not the Norwich & Peterborough in this case it is(was) the National & Provincial Building society which was indeed taken over by Abbey National0 -
Yes i do have a current account with Santander. Ive never had any issues with them before. All the standard email says it unsuccessful on this occasion. Same as i got before! They also have a premium rate number which they would like me to call. Well they can get stuffed! Id rather go into my branch to see if they can explain.
i applied online to set up the online banking. You'd think they would allow everyone to do it as it makes budgeting much easier.0 -

It is quite possible that the branch will be unable to help.
I would suggest phoning the Online Banking number on 01908 238013 (7am-11pm).
