Scottish Power 40mins in queue

For the third time in 4 months I have waited over 30 mins in a queue to speak to an agent at Scottish Power. It is disgusting.
How an earth do they get away with it? When you call the 'thinking of switching to us' number, guess what? Yes that's right, they answer almost straight away!
I cancelled my Direct Debit today, and emailed them explaining that I am fed up of not being able to get through to ask a question or make any changes.
Rant over. Raaaaagh.

why did u cancel the DD?
you may have an issue with SP but if you owe money or pay monthly with them you wont be doing yourself any favours if they don't receive payment, (credit agencys etc)
if your not happy its simply DONT ring, and make an official complaint, be it in writing, emai and by that I mean using the head office./complaint email and not the standard email.
not worth risking your credit score.(should they report non payment)0 -
Just ring the sales number and get them to transfer you0

I too have been having awful problems getting through to SP - since before Christmas. Our DD was lowered (but the bill stated ' your DD remains the same') which put us into debit with SP. No-one at SP can explain why and I eventually made a formal complaint. The complaints advisor told me that SP are having terrible computor problems as they are putting in a new computor system - having worked at 2 companies that have also put in the same system I totally understand what they are going through.
It does not help us customers but I have a lot of sympathy with the SP staff.
Keep an eye on your account and look out for unexpected changes !.0 -
Yeah these mega-epic long queues are terrible. Especially when they pay awful music to you that is really crackly quality let alone the awful song itself.
I once waited in a 30 min queue only to be "cut off" after 30 mins. Terrible.GC Jan £431.490/£480.00  £48.51 under budget!0 -
I rang this afternoon and was told the wait would be 45 minutes to 75 minutes!!
It does kind of make sense if they are installing new computers. When you input your meter readings the system would immediately tell you how much the bill would be,though it took a couple of days to itemise it.But at least you knew how much straight away.
Now you input the readings and nothing happens.I run my mums account through my computer,as well as my own,as she hasn't got a computer. Her last bill went ok but mine didn't.They gave me an estinmated one even though i had given my readings online,as i have done for the last 5 years .
They are getting a LOT of complaints lately, they used to be good but now...........hopeless.0 -
Hi Froglet. I am experiencing just the same problem.i always input meter readings 1st or 2nd of month and used to get an updated balance straight away. The last two months it has not happened that way. I emailed last month and eventually got an updated balance. This month I have emailed no response other than standard reply. I
called yesterday . Was told the wait would be 30mins plus but decided to hold on and was answered in about two minutes! Requested an updated balance, told would be available online later that evening, of course it is not. There is a message on the website saying essential maintenance work on systems this weekend. Hopefully this is to sort the problem out.0 -
There is an awful lot to sort out!! So many people complaining that when they leave it takes forever to get back any credit. They really are crazy, they were such a good company to deal with but unless they improve massively i too will be off.
I did however log on last night and my Mum's balance has been updated so at least i can tell her this morning. And i have found a way to reduce the direct debit without calling them.Let's hope when i am due a bill next month they are as quick.0 -
Yes I too would like normal service to be resumed! I might consider shopping around if situation continues but doubt if I would get as a good a deal price wise now! Fingers crossed it gets sorted over the weekend.0

Impossible to say. As ever discussed, cheapest depends on postcode and consumption. If there were one cheapest we'd all be with them.
Nice try though.0
