Hi
I have an apple tv that just does not want to work, it is connected to internet but whether i connect wire or wireless, it takes about 30 mins to start the movie, if i stick the same ethernet cable to my computer it gives me a speed of about 15mbps which is ok I think.
I tried another apple TV and it gave me the same problem.
It is hard wired via a patch panel but direct to the router, its not going through a switch or anything like that.
I have tried restoring resetting restarting the device but It would still not work.
I have tried connecting to wifi wireless both and it will not work with either.
I updated the apple tv software and it did go through so I definitely have internet but when I start playing movie, it does not do that.
I have also reinstalled the os via itunes from computer and still no luck.
I spoke to apple support and they said you have done everything we can possibly suggest. Unfortunately this device is no longer under warranty so they cant do anything.
Can any one suggest anything else that I could try.
Thanks for help.

Perhaps take it to a friends house and try it on their internet? At least would show if any issues with your setup at home
Useful is beautiful0 -
Thats the last option I thought about too and will go to a mate's house tonight and see if it works there. But if there is anything else I can do before I get there?0

How does it work when you stream from your computer/tablet/phone to it rather than via the internet?0

Hi
Network test work fine, took it to my friend's house last night and it did not work there either.
Spoke to senior level support at apple they said take it to apple store but I know they would not do a lot either as its out of warranty.0 -

Apple are very good at dealing with things inc out of warranty if you approach them nicely and not demanding etc. With my out of warranty laptop they offered to replace the screen at half the cost of parts and no labour.
I'd try streaming to it from iTunes and see if thats an issue, if it is then it really has something wrong with its networking despite the test results.0 -
could you please tell me how to do it I am in front of a computer and have the apple tv with me too0
