WiFi Performance of Huawei Y300 Smartphone

My wife would like her first Android smartphone but doesn't want anything too expensive until she is sure she can get on with the system. The Huawei Y300 is very reasonably priced and would be a good test bed for her. She doesn't need anything fast, merely to use as a phone, texts, Gmail and the occasional web browse.
I have read some inconclusive (to me) opinions about how far the WiFi range is compared to other phones and tablets.
Could anyone with this phone offer an opinion on the WiFi performance, or any other phone suggestions welcome? She doesn't want the Moto G as it is a little too large for her.
Thank you.

Just bumping this in case anyone has one of these phones.0

My friend at work has one and she has no problems with WiFi range throughout the factory. It is quite a basic phone though, its definitely worth paying the extra for a moto g0

I'm typing this on my y300. I love it.
WiFi is absolutely fine for my needs. Works perfectly in my house and when out and about. 3g a little slow sometimes. The whole reason I got this phone was because I could check emails and have an occasional web browse when out. And also keep a big wad of cash in my pocket rather than have a phone which was just a teeny bit faster or a teeny bit bigger. Cost was my driver. Each person is different though. Some people seem to value that extra second of time for a web page to download for an extra £100. I don't.
For the price (39.95 @ carphone warehouse on payg) u aren't going to get anything better by far.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

We've a couple of the earlier Huwaei Blaze phones which do all that we require of them. Wi-Fi is fine in the house, Wetherspoons, Starbucks etc so they are ideal as a cheap phone that does everything that android allows. If you aren't into phone envy, then get one.
I can't really see what else you'd get for a significantly more expensive phone - a better screen and a bit more memory but they don't do much more. The more lights bells & whistles the shorter the battery life - our Huawei phones last for several day between charges whereas some of the cleverer phones struggle to last a day.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
I have one. I lost my phone on holiday and needed a replacement as cheaply as possible whilst trying to resolve the insurance. I got it for about £7.70 a month, with a very substantial package and £35 back from Quidco. Less than I could get the equivalent sim only. My daughter got the sim and I got the phone.
It has been pretty much drama free. I use the data quite a bit and it seems to pick up websites on very weak signals. Not a fancy phone, but it has done everything I have asked of it. The only issue I have had is the automatic brightness level does not always seem to work in bright sunlight. I've had to adjust settings myself to see the screen in those circumstances.0 -
I've had no problems with using wi-fi or even using it as a wi-fi hotspot for my kindle.0

Grateful for all the replies, which made it a serious contender.
@pepdavies - The Moto G is too large for her use.
Unfortunately CPW have just upped the price on their new stock of Y300's and (IMO) they don't now offer value for money for such a basic phone. May have to look at something else0 -
Blimey - CPW have practically doubled the price!Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?
