Shocking Oxfam report on N.I.

I guess if there's one thing I can take from this it's that Oxfam are not using the money they receive in a way that actually benefits those in need. I am not (and have never been) in what I (and apparently the UN) would call poverty. There is little point in me giving money to Oxfam for them to spend compiling a report and lobbying the government to take more of my money and redistribute it to the "poor", I'd be better just giving it to them directly (which is what I thought I was doing when I gave money to Oxfam in the first place!). Having said that if I see something in a charity shop at a price I like I will buy it, and yes, I'll even Gift Aid it if you like.0

Are you for real !!!!!!!!!! spuds are cheap as anything if you buy them from a local farmer in a 20kg bag...Let them eat potat... hmm, at current prices, can't even do that anymore.
Problem is, the supermarket/shop prices went up last year when there was a real shortage and big demand and now they are a reasonable price and there's a load of them...... guess what, they aint gone down the same amount..... no surprise there !!
Problem here is the supply chain..... too many middle men !!0 -

In fact for a single person under 35 it would be pretty awful.
Might encourage them to get jobs then?

Another downside to large supermarkets0 -
What can a single unemployed person under 35 expect to receive?
I know they get £71 p/w and I think they're allowed to work up to 16 hours per weeek too?0 -

It's £56.00 for under 25s and £71 for over 25s.
Then you can get shared room LHA. Depends on where you live but between £36 and £48 per week to pay for accommodation.
That's it.0 -

Employment for the 50+ is going up slightly while for younger people it's going down by a fair bit.
Agreed, however there are quite a few of those who either
(a) dont want to work
(b) see some jobs as beneath them0
