I accomplished my three key things yesterday, and I have a nice menu planned for the week, which includes sirloin steak for tonight's date night.

So today is Diva day, and I have been letting the side down a bit lately, with appearances so .......

KT1 - Manicure and pedicure - an elegant pale pink
KT2 - Wax and eyebrows and plenty of body lotion

    Now for the mundane

KT3 - House work - two hours timed, intense clean to 60's music - Two washes on and try to figure out why I still have washing in the cupboard, after 10 wash loads this week?

I am going to empty it out, throw away anything that sits in there taking up space, that nobody ever wears, and determine how many washes are left. In the meantime we will have a naturist day !!!! (only joking, but I do think that is the answer!)

    Somebody should warn the neighbours!

Today I am grateful that we have good neighbours.

How can I control my life if I can't control my laundry cupboard?

Yesterday, I emptied out the contents of the laundry cupboard and the kitchen was knee deep in clothes. I uncovered the root of the problem though. There were three sleeping bags and a duvet at the bottom, and when they were removed the situation was not quite as bad as I had feared.

I discovered that DH had added a big bag full of clothes that I had hidden in the garage the last time we had visitors over.

I managed to throw out a black sack full of assorted items we had not worn in years and now I am left with just three baskets full of clothes to wash!!!

To think that last month's plan was to declutter the whole house and in reality it is going to take me two weeks to clear one cupboard, and if there is one thing this house does not lack it is storage.

So KT3's all week will be the Laundry cupboard.

I am creamed and polished and ready to go:-

KT1 - Put some of DS clothes on ebay, that he has grown out of.
KT2 - 30 Mins on the ex bike listening to "What's Stopping You".
KT3 - Two more washes on.

Today I am grateful that I have plenty of washing powder!

  • Hey hon, you managed you managed to get shot of one black bag full of clothes. That counts as decluttering to me

  • Well done Rainbow on such a productive decluttering weekend!!

I feel for you with the washing situation; my OH has gone on a lads weekend and last weekend I'd done every bit of washing we had. However, by Friday he had somehow managed to leave three loads' worth to do?! Luckily it's been such a lovely weekend, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to get everything dried.

How did all your pampering go?
Finally debt free!! March 2018 :j

    Hi there,

Ruby you sound very organised, it has been years since I have cleared my laundry basket! This week things will change though!

I scrubbed up quite well! My finger and toe nails are looking really smart and I'm smooth!

Last night DH and I went to a friend's dinner party and I made a real effort to look nice. We had a lovely time, and my last bottle of expensive wine went down very well.

Yesterday I accomplished 30 minutes on my exercise bike, 15 km, and my heart rate hardly went up, so I am much fitter than I was a few months ago. I think it is time to move the settings though, to make the cycling more challenging.

I went to ebay DS's clothes, but I found flaws in them all, and decided that I will find an alternative destination. At the moment there are two bin bags full of clothes for re-homing/binning, I will decide their fate this morning. The washing and drying is continuing at break neck speed!

    Three key things for today:-

    1. Visit the refuse tip/clothes weighing centre with clothes and a load of cardboard that has accumulated in the garage.

    2. Get some information from the BOS prior to setting up a Halif*x online account with £100.00 transfer fee and £5.00 a month bonus.

    3. Do a body pump and body balance class tonight.

AND - Don't forget thank you card for last night and moving DS dental appointment.

I am grateful today for good friends and good wine.

  • Morning!!

It sounds like you've achieved a great deal in the last week and that's brilliant. The fact you've only just had your last bottle of expensive wine is also an achievement - bet it tasted lovely!

You'll have to let us know how much you get from the clothes people. That's one way to get out of the washing I suppose! lol x

Thanks Sassy, every last drop of that wine was savoured. I was sorely tempted to bin all the clothing in the house and start from scratch, but you need to be rich to engage in such grand gestures ......

I completed my three tasks; throwing out one bag of clothes, which was beyond redemption, and selling the other, to a weighing centre, for the princely sum of £2.96. I attended my two classes, picked up the details I needed from BOS, handed in my thank you card and changed the appointment!!

    Today I need to:-

    1. Do two mystery shops.
    2. Look again for trousers and shoes for new job.
    3. Open reward current account with Hal*fax.

I am grateful for Spring. The sun is up and I am going to smell the primroses? armed with a mug of mint chocolate options and a tuna/tomato and avocado sandwich made with home-made bread. Bliss ..............

Your turn to treat me today Sassy! Your tuna pasta lunch would go down very nicely!

I managed my three things again yesterday. Setting up the Halif*x account was surprisingly painless, and the £100.00 should be in my new account by the end of the month. My FD account is getting closed and, at the end of the month, my Nationw*de account is getting shut down too. I will be losing a £1,500.00 interest free o/d facility on that one, but I am not going to enter that world, ever again!! Thinking of it as free money has been the main reason why I can never stay out of it for long.

The two mystery shops added another £22.00 to the emergency fund.

I hunted for a suit and shoes all over Livingst*n, but nothing looked right, and there were no obvious bargains, so I have resorted to ebay, and put bids on two skirt/trouser suits, one overcoat and a pair of black leather shoes. Even if I win them all, I should still get change of £50.00, and if anything is not suitable, I will just sell it on immediately using their pictures.

I loved sitting out, soaking up the sun yesterday, but it seems to have highlighted the grubbiness of the inside of the house, which I didn't notice under a cover of general grey weather. I have the day off today and I am going to tackle the following tasks on a 45 minute on for housework, 45 minute off for TV viewing basis.

The tasks are ...... drum roll ..........

Clean out and declutter downstairs shoe and coat cupboard - DONE
    Deep clean bathrooms - DONE
Change bed in our room - DONE
Spray cooker parts for deep cleaning Thursday - DONE
Hoover and dust house, paying attention to light fittings/corners/doors etc -DONE

Continue with washing, hanging it outside to dry - DONE

In the evening - Zumba class and spa chill out. - DONE

Wish me luck, I am going to need plenty of it x.

Today I am grateful that I have a house to clean. Clutching at straws there, but seriously it is a blessing ................. and as the good book says "a blessing ignored becomes a curse."
