Old style thread 15th January

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
Am on a massive high here as have just received my redundancy payment and have completely paid of 2 debts and topped up our endowment shortfall fund to worst case scenario level. It's never felt so good to pay out money!
Mad day ahead but I am pretty sure I will be grinning all day.
Up early but rushing as have spent so long doing online banking and finance calculations but will try and catch up later.
Julie - hope you get your pain relief sorted
Hester - I hope you get what you want from HR and management

Morning,
Yesterday was manic. I made dinner in the morning with some pasta salads for lunches... Trying to save what bread we have! Ends up toad in the hole tastes ok reheated in the microwave, just not nice and crispy.
DD2 had her 8 week jabs, and we had our 6-8 week check at the Drs. Passed with flying colours
Today we were supposed to have the Health Visitor but she called and cancelled yesterday... So today I get to iron instead
Dinner is leftover Beef Tikka Masala
Hope everyone has a great day xWe spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240 -
Morning sister cas & TTFTM and everyone who follows.
Hope you got some more sleep Sistercas. Good luck hosting the training session!
Glad you've got the money TTFTM! That's a load off your mind eh x
Unsuccessfully trying to get tipex off dd1s trousers. He only got a bottle of the stuff on the weekend. He is banned from having it now. He only has 2 pairs of school trousers that fit as it is.
Not a lot to report today. Not up to much.
Ought to do some housework obviously! I was so lazy yesterday but it was day one of Aunt Flo & that always wipes me out for some reason.
Have a good day all

Morning All
Dark, damp and miserable here and I am off to an outdooor centre with 35 children today till Friday! Hope it's warmer than yesterday, don't think it went above 2 degrees all day and it was foggy and horrible. Still, the children will enjoy it (secretly so will I once I get there!).
House, washing and shopping all up to date, DD has food she can heat up when she gets home from work, I'm sure she wont starve.
TTFTM - That must be a fantastic feeling.
DG - Glad you arrived safely.
LW - Hope you enjoy Jessicle's stay.
Enjoy the rest of the week, see you Friday.
Take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Now getting light, raining and very wet underfoot - rain looks set in for a while.
DH up and gone to work stupid early.
Dinner last night was pork chops, mash, carrots, broccolli, green beans, peas and gravy. Last of the HM xmas pud and custard for dessert. DH moaned that he needed something else after his main course last night (as he's portion size has been reduced on his instruction) - so trying to cut down lasted a long time then didn't it?!! Tonight I'm not sure what we will be having but after the hairdresser left I realised that she had left some of her equipment her, so rang her and I will drop it in to hers first thing as she only lives round the corner and it's on my way past.
Did get a few bits done yesterday, continued with the washing, drying and ironing. Changed our bed. Did more jobs on pc and made another couple of telephone calls. Making real headway with the clearing of debts, so am happy with where we are at the moment - still a way to go but certainly feel we're on the right track. We will be able to get rid of at least 1 credit card completely within the next couple of months. Have been looking at where I can use the extra money due to there being no council tax to pay in Feb and March to reduce debt too.
Need to crack on now.
Keep safe and well x

Good Morning All
Well done TTFTM
Been mia as been up and out the house very early last couple of days, got nothing done in the office or house so lots of catching up to do.
Have an issue with DS at the moment, he has always had a slight phobia about being sick which was mainly when he was in cars etc, now he has it all the time and its worse when he is at school. Been to the doc's and they have done a blood test to rule out anything physical and once that comes back he will be referred for counselling. He went in school monday but not yesterday or today -have seen the school and they are very understanding. He feels under pressure from school at the moment as he is in year 10 and all the GCSE stuff is starting and some teachers are dealing with it in a way I don't agree with but oh well. Hopefully will get him back in school tomorrow and the referral wont take too long.
Plans today - really need to lock myself in the office this morning to get some important stuff done. OH is at home as no work today so he will do some housework :j After lunch think will do the ironing and maybe sit down for a while and read my book we are all a little sniffly round here and would like to avoid the lurgy if possible.
Leftover chicken cooked with rice for dinner tonight - nice and easy.
Have a great day all.x0 -
Mornin'
Wet this morning out there
WM on.
This morning I have to ring the Caravan insurers to see how much difference it makes storing the van on a less secure site. Then we can decide whether to move it and get a more cost effective car or leave it where it is and buy another juicy one! If we had buckets of money it would be no problem, we could buy a relatively new eco car, but we haven't so it would have to be an old juicy jalopy.
Not much else planned for today.
Have a happy day0 -
Good Morning everyone, day off for me today as Dd is off so no school run for me this morning I'm sitting here with my coffee and taking my time drinking it instead of rushing out of the door.Dd works alternate Wednesdays so once a fortnight I have a nice lazy morning start
:):)
I am feeling pretty good as our team actually won at the pub quiz last night,OK so its only a couple of bottles of plonk but we were all very pleased .I now have four bottles in the stash, and once we have won another couple (fingers crossed) we all get a bottle each.
Yesterday was a pretty god day as well as the chap I have been trying to get hold of in the Imperial War museum to make an appointment to see was actually there and I got hold of him and made an appointment for February.I have been trying to access him since before Christmas as I need to do some research for my nephews book.As I live in Kent, and my nephew lives in Lancashire its easier for me to get to the IWM.
Today I have to nip to Hobbycraft to pick up an A3 scrap book for DGS Jack also I have the diet clinic for my weigh-in this morning. But thats about all.I have a bit of ironing to do this afternoon but I can watch t.v. at the same time so that will be ok as well I like to multi-task:):)
Hope everyone has a good day ,very wet here at the moment and I think its been chucking it down all night.
I am feeling quite pleased about my cash-back c/card as I got over £84 this month which was for the last 12 months This has gone toward paying for the ferry tickets for two cars for our Isle of wight holiday in August.Nice little bonus for using my c/card as a debit card and paying it off every month.I am getting paid for spending my own money:):
Right, time to have a leisurely breakfast
have a good one what ever you are doing

Morning all,
Wet here too looks like its set in for the day. I finished painting the inside of the wardrobes yesterday, it had taken me four days ! so I was glad to see the back of it, I still have the doors to do but the paint has not been delivered yet. OH is going to fit the hanging rails at the weekend so I will finally have somewhere to hang clothes !!
Off to work today, dd is at home with the dog, I will ask her to tidy through downstairs, dw is on and she will empty that too.
Dinner tonight will be something on toast, we have bacon eggs and beans, so it might be that.
Have good days all xx0
