    Pays to shop around

Absolutely right. When I was rebuilding my Land Rover, I lost count of the number of 'rare' and 'hard to get' parts listed on eBay that were half the price off the shelf at Paddock Spares or Craddocks. (ETA: Clarified below.)

Serious point, though - if someone finds a decent deal (that may not be the absolute best in the world but is useful), do they post it here in the spirit of sharing information, or do they keep quiet about it, for fear that someone somewhere knows a better price and will criticise?
If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.

The latter. This forum does not forgive
  • Bare in mind Ebay is not always the cheapest.

I needed an oil dip stick for a 206 once and the cheapest I could find was from an actual main dealer parts counter after searching high and low all over the interweb.

Just realised I wasn't very clear in post #12 above.

I have seen 'rare' parts listed on eBay at inflated prices, when the same part was available off the shelf from a well-known supplier for half the price.

    I agree with you.

You obviously didn't do enough research! so even if you think that your price was pretty good, your money saving recommendation was actually rubbish!

Of all the rude replies on here, I think that this one deserves a gold star for "obnoxious effort";)

In similar fashion though, Halfords are doing 15% off and a free battery health check.... only for O2 Priority Moments though.
