Moto G Kitkat Update now poor battery life

I know this issue has been posted before but I needed to make sure before I decide to go back on Moto Gs old OS.

Has anyone had a battery drain after Kitkak Update on Moto G ??

I just updated two days ago and after 24 hours it shows at 35% ! !

That's after couple of phone calls and light internet browsing.

No gaming, No facebook app (of any other for that matter) and no youtube.

Is this normal ??

What should I do to extend the battery life ??

The brightness is kept less than 30%.

I always keep the data on. should i turn off the data to extend the battery time ??

If needed, how do I go back to old OS ??

I unlocked mine to be on T Mobile.

If I do a factory reset, will it lock again ??

That's not bad. Most smart phones need charging every night. So a battery life of 16 hours plus is ok for most people.

As above....the last three smart phones I have owned have usually been down to 30% after about 15/16 hours .
  • Thanks folks.

I've also disabled the Google Search from the main screen. it shows the blue box but the feature has stopped until I enable it again.

It warned me of other apps failing but what could happen ???

Are there any other running apps that are OK to stop every now n then.

I found that after the KitKat update my Moto G showed at least 10% of battery was consumed by 'mediaserver' (goto Settins then Battery to see) - the cuprit was Skype, others found the sane thing ( on various Android phones) and often Skype was causing this, so I uninstalled and installed an earlier version of Skype and problem solved. Although I had to faff around around side loading an older version of Skype but that's for another thread.
