Moto G Kitkat Update now poor battery life

I've had my Moto G for a while now and love it. However, since I updated the os to Kitkat, the battery life has been dire. Previously I was getting up to 2 days, which is good for a smartphone. Now I'm lucky to get a day. I really wish I hadn't updated it.

Is anyone else having this problem and/or does anyone know a solution?

Apologies if this question has already been posted - I hada quick look but couldn't see it. Thanks in advance for any help.

Do you have the Google Now Hotword detection on? That will probably eat battery
  • I have Kit Kat on my Moto G and charged it 10hrs ago.

I've had data on all day, bluetooth on for an hour and made a couple of calls and still have 75% on the battery.

I don't even know what that is! I haven't changed anything other than upgraded to Kitkat so, unless that is something that goes on automatically, I don't have it. How would I find out?

Not everyone has this problem, but I have heard of a few, which makes it all the more puzzling. How long have you had Kit Kat on it? Mine was fine for the first few days or so after update but then started this problem.

In the Google now settings, under Voice I think. It might not be on your phone, that was just my first thought.

It's only a case of changing language to US English, if there is such a thing lol

Yes that is the case, but most people only do that after finding out there should be a hotword but they don't have it, and going on a Google rampage :D
