Up to the middle of last year I even told my buyers on eBay that if they wanted more or similar items I carried cheaper stock in my Ebid shops, but I didn't get a single sale, but I got lots of repeat buyers on eBay!

Ebid do nothing to attract buyers. They keep giving sellers false hopes, but once they take the £50 fee they give them nothing in return. I think the whole website exists just to get that lifetime fee, because they can't be making enough money off the nonexistent sales on their wasteland.
  • Just want to say thanks to all for their posts. I was considering ebid but got into difficulty just trying to put stuff on. Now decided not to bother and stick with ebay

I think ebid's problem is that they Police their listings and remove those that breach their rules, whereas ebay don't.

For instance, if you have 100 of the same item to sell, you can create 100 individual listings on ebay and take-over 5 pages of the listings for that item without recourse. Try the same on ebid and you soon find your listings suspended due to a policy breach.

Ebay don't care about policy breaches such as this as it falsely shows an inflated amount of listings. If they upheld their policy on not allowing multiple listings of the same item by the same seller, then the sudden drop in listings would set alarm bells ringing and the share price would drop.

I think you are clutching at straws now. Listings mean nothing at all especially since Ebid don't charge to list so any old rubbish can be listed. As a seller all I care about are completed listings and frankly I struggle to find any categories on Ebid at all that show a continuous history of successful sales.

I posted the link in case anyone wanted a different point of view of ebid from people other than those on here.

I must admit that there are a few of us on ebid who consider that what really holds the site back is the attitude of some of the old farts who are happy to sit there and sell 2-3 cards or stamps a month and snipe at anyone who dare suggest that the site changes in any way whatsoever.

One thing I will say is that I managed to acquire some new Epson printer carts for a £5 donation to camera club funds. I listed them at 99p each on Ebay with 50 P&P and didn't sell a single one ( I had 1 complete set + 6 randoms). Put them on Ebid & sold the lot at £3 each with free P&P.

That was quite random as I would have expected it to be the other way around.

I guess that if the right person/s are looking for a specific item, they will buy it from the first site that shows up in Google search.

Also, I used Ebid to sell a designer jacket that ebay were more happy to pull the listing for due to 'breaching VeRo' policies.

I can't recall Ebid ever turning up when searching for a product on Google. They never turn up in sponsored search either. They're a very intriguing business.
