Is it worth buying from a dealer? (Ford)

I want to buy an used Ford Fiesta, I've been looking mainly at Ford dealers and I feel more confident the car will be in good condition, but I've just found out they give no warranty at all, while other used cars independent shops do give some warranty.
My current car is a VW Golf bought from a VW dealer and they gave me 1 year warranty, but Ford seems to work in a different way.
Is there any benefit buying from Ford, even with no Warranty, or shall I look to buy wherever I find the car I want..?

How old?
Fords have 3 year warranty
or if its a Ford Direct car:
Two-year unlimited mileage warranty
Your Ford Direct car comes with a two-year comprehensive unlimited mileage warranty included in the price. This means it’s covered against failure due to manufacturing or material defects in most original specification components, and there are no limits on the number of claims you can make.0 -
It will be the dealership that is offering the warranty rather than Ford or VW (unless of course the car is still within manufacturer warranty). Try another Ford dealership and you may find that warranty.
Ultimately, the best car may well sit on some private forecourt or as a personal sale within Autotrader. Look far and wide is your best bet.0 -
How old is the car and how was it serviced and by whom?
We recently bought a used Mitsubishi from a dealer (cheaper than we could find private as it happens).
One previous, older owner, trade in.
Comes with a Mitsubishi (not dealer) warranty of one year and the cars (almost) 5 years old.
I'd expect any dealer worth their salt to offer at least 3 months and if it's always being in the dealer network at least 6 months.0 -
I'm looking around 4 year old, low mileage (<20.000). The ones I've seen so far (most in Dagenham motors) are not Ford direct as they have no warranty at all. Another Ford dealer offered me 3 months.
Of course I'll check how many previous owners, service history, etc, wherever I buy it...0 -
On that basis see what mazda have got to say?
A mazda 2 is basically a ford fiesta at that age anyway (i believe?).
Unless it has to be a fiesta that is0 -

Please, don't get a Mazda 2. I've had a 2008 M2 sport for nearly 2 years and it's not a great car, awful suspension, terrible road nose, corroding alloys, naff interior and rubbish MPG. Oh and a clutch that resembles a nervous monkey with a shotgun.
It has a lot of similarities with the Fiesta but they're definitely not the same car.0 -
if the brand is changable take a look at hyundai, you'd get the balance of 5 year unlimited mileage warranty AND 5 years roadside assistance. Or how about Kia? they offer 7 year although granted I believe the mileage is limited and some factors expire after 5 years?
But either way, a 3-4 year old car would still be covered, and quite frankly you could probably get a newer car with either of these brands for the same price as the Fords.
Only other I can think of is Vauxhall Network Q.... somewhere in the back of my head something is telling me they offered 2 year warranties? Though admittedly this could have changed since I last dealt with them.Debt@LBM1=£4050 1st DFD 27/08/09Debt @LBM2 =£14,469.97 2nd DFD 14/03/2018 :T

Thanks, I've also considered Hyundai and Kia but not convinced about them (based just on the looks, I know they are reliable as I had an 18 year old Hyundai in Spain and I know they are good).
Might consider a Corsa... will take a look at prices.
I'm planning to spend between £4000-£5000 with part exchange, no way I can get a new car with the equipment I want for that price, I wish I could!0 -

Manufactured in the same Spanish factory with mostly the same parts. You bought a lemon, nothing more.0 -
Why are you after such a low mileage car? Do you do a lot of miles yourself?
Personally i do a fairly low mileage so buy a high mileage car because its cheaper but no less reliable.
Average miles 10 - 12,000 your going to be paying a premium for a car from Ford with that mileage. And get the bodywork inspected to see if its been repaired.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
