As frustrating as it is, bear in mind that you have done the right thing. You would never forgive yourself if an accident resulted in your continued driving.
Hopefully it will be sorted soon.Dear Lord, I am calling upon you today for your divine guidance and help. I am in crisis and need a supporting hand to keep me on the right and just path. My mind is troubled but I will strive to keep it set on you, as your infinite wisdom will show me the way to a just and right resolution. Amen.0 -
Have you had your licence revoked/refused or did you voluntary surrender your licence. If it's the latter then once the DVLA has received your application for you to get your licence back, you are allowed to drive under the http://www.findlaw.co.uk/law/motoring/driving_licence/medical_conditions/9695.html1988 act.Why pay full price when you may get it YS0

Hospital letter still not arrived, despite being promised it was sent, then to ring again to find out it wasn't, have sent all my forms or yesterday that i could, play the waiting game now.
a month on, still nothing apart from a letter, saying we have your medical information you supplied dated 5th Feb.

In 2004 I asked my GP whether I had to declare Ocular Migraine, and he told me to go and ask the DVLA, saying "It's not my job to give medical opinions". When I rang the DVLA I had my licence confiscated on the spot by a kid in the call centre who said "what's a migraine".
I was then pig in the middle for another five months: "go and ask your doctor", "go and ask the DVLA". When the DVLA wrote to my GP he just put the letter in the filing cabinet and ignored it. It seems that the DVLA are the only people the NHS are frightened of, they just don't want the responsibility of making a decision when there's an organisation more powerful than they are who can hold them to account.
The DVLA have a 90 working day limit for dealing with cases, so on the 90th day they sent a letter telling me I could have my licence back if and when the doctor says I'm fit. Exactly the same position I had been in for the previous 90 days. When I eventually got a letter telling me I could reapply, it had been backdated to the 90th day. I'm sure if I falsely misrepresented a date with them I'd get prosecuted.
In 2012 I was diagnosed with a heart arrhythmia, nobody at the hospital told me that it's compulsory to declare it to the DVLA, I only found that out when I was looking at their website a year later. When I asked about fitness to drive the doctor had just squirmed in his chair a bit, and avoided the question.0 -
OH and I sent out licences off for renewal together in the same envelope early Jan, mine came back within a fortnight. We're still waiting for his. First he was told because he's applied for a blue badge, his medical history needs checking.
NOW they're claiming to have not received it at all, and say he has to pay for a replacement as if HE has lost it.
We sent two separate cheques, only mine has been cashed....Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -
I just recently posted my renewal back. In the Post Office my Mother was told that Royal Mail are aware of a proportion of DVLA envelopes being intercepted and the details stolen.0

As an updated, had mine back within 3 weeks. Hopefully this means they've caught up!0

I applied for a renewal to include a D1 entitlement when I turned 70. That was 8 weeks ago, and the medical dept. have had it for almost 6 of those. It's still in a queue apparently, but until I get it back I can't rent a car if I go abroad. I have no health issues, so why does it take so long?0

I came across this thread while searching for infomation re. the incredibly slow DVLA system. My father is waiting for a decision regarding his licence. We sent off the Driving Assessment and they have the medical report and after weeks and weeks have now received a letter saying it may take up to 9 weeks more!!! Very frustrating.0
