I think you may well be on the right track there. My own memory until adulthood is virtually a blank slate, but I do recall that a childhood hobby of mine was collecting recipes. Don't know why...as I was never allowed to try them out by my mother.
The other possible explanation is that my mother was/is self-confessedly a bad cook and there wasn't much money for anything remotely interesting foodwise.
I tend to think though that that recipe-collecting was because I've always been interested in good food and the preparation of it though and would quite happily work on being a gourmet if finances etc allowed.
Hello you!!
I remember you from a long time ago and discussions with Bangers and Mash...(bangers to me).
Edit, wrong post quoted in a rush for work. Meant next post next one.
Hope you are doing well.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -

Hi to you all. So busy again!
Sorry, been MIA for a couple of weeks due to a bit of a meltdown. Referred to Occ Health through work and things are a bit better. Work were either trying to help me or looking for a way to nudge me out (flipping heck, I'm paranoid!).
One big singlie advantage just now is that you can choose whether you want to watch the football, athletics, Grand Prix, tennis etc, etc, etc (don't actually mind the tennis, especially when they change their shirt on camera :rotfl:).
Could we do a Thelma and Louise plus a spare? My dream at the moment is once DD and DS are off my hands I could go and be a hermit living in a cave in the Outer Hebrides (with internet access of course so I can keep in touch with you lovely bunch).
Hey ho, onwards and upwards x0 -
All this talk of careers, work in general, and retirement is making me think about things.
So, i'm wondering what people wanted to be/do as a kid, and how far removed from that are we all...or have we strive to do what we really wanted in some way?
What do the rest of us think?
i wanted to be a nurse...... ended up as a manager for Burger king, working all depts in Safeway (showing my age!!), then back to BK... where bless them they coughed up nicely after a employment tribunal...
Now mid 40s a gorgeous daughter and a lot of baggage! xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
I didn't know what I wanted to do when I was younger and that seems to have continued into adulthood... so maybe you are right about it having an influence0

He got banished ages ago. No clue why as it happened to be a time when I wasn't on here much, lots of people were having the same thing happen at that time I remember....shame.
Hope you feel better soon.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -

... comes running in out of breath
I've finally caught up with the thread ... what a long one ... you certainly can chat!
Hope everyone is keeping well (this includes all the pets too!)
I've just got a pond with fish but have pet sat for family when they have been on holidays. Happy to have them but happy to see them go home - think that I would find it to restrictive to have a pet full time.A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot, and realise how blessed you are.
