Shaw Trust - any good?

I used shaw trust about four years ago and found them brilliant. They gave me buss passes so I could attend interviews and paid for £150 of clothes and shoes so I could look smart at my interviews. They also helped me with some costs until I got my first salary. They were very understanding and really nice to me so maybe they are not all bad?0

I feel sorry for The Shaw Trust and other charitable organisations that have had new CEOs come in and taken their focus off their initial aims and started to chase the government money. They, like others, still do tremendous work with disabled and disadvantaged people, creators of jobs from thin air, they are no good at.
The vast majority of people on government programmes are not going to get jobs through agencies like these, they may enhance their possibilities by training courses and improvements in self-esteem, but recruitment agencies they are not.0 -
@colino I agree. People seem to think that organisations / JobCentre can magic jobs out of the air or mysteriously place people in a job. With that expectation they will always be disappointed.
The new CEOs had to come in. These charities will fail without the sort of contracts with the JobCentre discussed here. Charities are businesses but at least the revenue generated can go towards the disadvantaged.0 -
The Shaw Trust do not just work with under 25's. Their target group will vary between areas depending on what contracts they hold. In my area they actively help the disabled (as well as other groups) in returning to and staying in work, and I have heard several positive reports about them. OP, I would suggest calling your local branch for a chat, it will do no harm to see if they are for you.0

The WP have told people 'we can get you a job', 'we have contacts' and 'we work like an agency' when they do nothing of the sort.
So basically there's no jobs out there, and there's no help to get people who want a job into work too. Might as well just give up...honestly I wonder most days why freaking bother.0 -

^ I've heard they have links with employers, and can get you placements which can lead to interviews/jobs?0
