Having claimed with L&G one year ago, I still have not heard from the ombudsman. Has anyone had any experience of claiming with them and if so how log should I wait before chasing?
Thanks:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Did you get a "full and final" negative response from L&G before referring your complaint?
FOS should have at the very least acknowledged your referral, but the process is currently taking in excess of eighteen months.
You need to provide us with far more information...0 -
Apologies for the lack of detail, it was a mortgage PPI and I did receive a reply from L&G advising that I was not entitled to a refund. I then referred the matter onto the ombudsman 1 year ago (last Jan), I have received a letter from the ombudsman acknowledging the letter and that they would contact me but they were very busy. That letter was dated 1 year ago.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thankyou:j0 -

The reason they rejected your complaint is important. It isnt down to entitlement as no-one is entitled to a refund. You make a complaint and if they believe your complaint is valid then they will refund. If they do not then they will pay a redress payment.
Did L&G reject it as they didnt sell it? Did they reject it as they didnt have liability (such as a tied agent case sold priorto January 2005)? Was it even MPPI (L&G are only small players in the MPPI field. Most of their stuff on mortgages is life assurance and/or Critical illness cover. Not MPPI). Did they reject it as you didnt actually give a complaint reason but just asked for refund of premiums?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

Why did L&G turn down your claim ?0 -
They rejected it as they were trying to infer that it was not mis-sold. I cannot even remember signing up to it and I have looked at the paperwork since and there were a series of automatically filled in tick boxes. My partner has also been self employed for the last 9 years so the policy was invalid.
I explained that if I knew of it and I knew it would be invalid then why would I be paying for it? I claimed therefore that it was mis-sold which I believe it was.

Isnt it a monthly policy? so a direct debit form would have been signed and payments taken every month. You also said you cannot remember signing for it, if they have a document which shows you have signed for it, hows that their fault?
Being self-employed doesnt invalidate the policy and these policies do cover self-employed.
This is probably why they rejected your complaint.0 -

Statistically, most MPPI complaints are rejected as not being mis-sold. So, playing the odds, a rejection was to be expected. Plus, most MPPI from L&G would be sold under an advice process and only 0.2% of PPI complaints at the FOS are via advisers. Most of which are rejected.I cannot even remember signing up to it and I have looked at the paperwork since and there were a series of automatically filled in tick boxes.
Failure to remember is not a reason. Timescale will come into play there somewhat. If it was a few months ago, then your complaint is strong even with little or no evidence to support it. If it was many years ago then your complaint is weakened on that front.
How do you know the tick boxes were automatically filled in. The could have been selected manually and then printed out.My partner has also been self employed for the last 9 years so the policy was invalid.
That is not correct. Self employed are covered.I explained that if I knew of it and I knew it would be invalid then why would I be paying for it? I claimed therefore that it was mis-sold which I believe it was.
To be honest, based on the little information you have posted and obviously not having any access to the documentation that exists, your assumptions are wrong and your complaint reasons weak. You can see why it was rejected.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. When did the transaction take place ?0 -
I would suggest you read L&G reasons for rejecting your complaint and what they said about your allegations. What did they say?0
