Hi there
My business partner often sends me songs as an email attachment & I usually have no problem opening these & adding to my itunes. However, I am unable to send any music back to her, they just get stuck in my outbox. I'm assuming the file is maybe too big (approx 3 or 4mb depending on the song). I've searched for hours on the internet to find a way to either make the song smaller or change my settings to allow me to send songs but no luck so far.
You guys are my last hope!!! I currently have to burn the song to a cd & then take it to the post office to mail it!! Sooo old school
Can anyone help me please
I'm using windows 7 (version 6.1)
My email is sent & recieved through outlook

Try http://www.mailbigfile.com/ for sending large files
Or you could ditch Outlook, because it's outdated and pretty crap.0 -
Can't you use something like dropbox and upload them to a folder and then share that folder with the person in question to then download them from there.“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0

Hi there
thanks to both of you for your replies. I use Outlook because I'm outdated & pretty crap myself, so it suits:rotfl:
My business partner also uses Outlook so I can't understand why she can do this & I can't.
As much as I'd love to change to another system for emails I don't have the time or the inclination to have to start faffing around trying to relearn how to send emails.
thanks anyway though0 -
Are you able to send ANY emails with attachments?
Or is it only emails with attachments over a certain size which are the problem?
Or only emails with MP3 attachments?
Who is your email provider? (I don't mean Outlook, that's your email client - I mean, whose email server do your emails get sent by?)
Is it the same provider as your colleague uses?
You need to narrow down the issue.0 -
I can't think of any provider with an attachment limit of as little as 3-4MB. Please can you look at the file and tell us the actual size, instead of guessing? And are they MP3's?
Also tell us who your ISP is, and who is the recipient's ISP?
But something like wetransfer.com is the obvious solution if you want to transfer individual files. No free lunch, and no free laptop

What size are the files? What format are they in? mp3, FLAC, ALAC?0

Hi there
thanks for replies & for trying to help me with this problem.
My internet provider is BT however this may be slightly complicated (or not) by the fact that I still use my old tiscali email address which I am reluctant to change because I need it for business.
File size is 3.49mb (typical example)
Song length 3m 2s (again, typical example)
Songs are either in mp3 or wav format
Yes, I can send other attachments easily. I only have this problem with music.0 -
Why not open a Hotmail or Yahoo webmail account just for the music thing? I think they allow attachments of at least 25MB.0

Are outgoing attachments being scanned by your Antivirus software ?
If so try try turning feature off.0 -
Who is the recipient's ISP? A 3.5Mb file attachment should go through any email server OK though, as long as you're only sending one or two per email.
Set up a temporary Gmail email account(5 mins) and then try sending from that. If it goes OK, you'll know it's an issue with your email account or Outlook. No free lunch, and no free laptop
