I'm looking replace my netbook with a laptop (with some mild to moderate gaming capabilities).
The best I've found far within my budget of up to £600 is this. Any other suggestions.

Hi
That wouldn't really be a gaming laptop as I don't think there's such a thing as a budget gaming laptop. What sort of games are you looking to play?
The machine will most likely struggle with graphics-heavy games so it will suck the enjoyability out of playing. If you're playing low graphics web games, then it would be fine.
The linked one is only £399. If you can go up to £600, then I'd suggest one with a dedicated graphics card and better processor.0 -
TBH not seeing anything special about that Lenovo 'Radeon graphics' is wonderfully vague...
This is more like it with a NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M, but at the budget you have 2nd hand may be a better bet.0 -

That one maybe. Within budget plus get some cashback. I assumed it didn't have to be from John Lewis.0 -

Well not really first person shooter games. Maybe at push I would look at playing Grand Theft Auto IV if I could. To be honest i've my Xbox 360 for my more heavier gaming0 -
Your budget falls just short of what I'd consider "capable" of gaming.
The laptop you linked has "radeon" on-chip graphics. It's a similar solution to the intel HD4000 graphics processor which is part of the CPU and uses system RAM as graphics memory. It'll play some 3D games slowly, but it really is a casual solution.
If playing 3D games really is your primary consideration, then you should value a discrete GFX chip over everything else. You will likely have to compromise slightly on Screen (I.e. 1366x768, not 1900x1080 "full HD", RAM - so 4Gb-6Gb, but you can upgrade this easily on most laptops, and hard drive space.
Check Amazon and the dell outlet: Dell currently have a 17" laptop (so desktop replacement and not suitable for carrying about regularly) with Nvidia GT750m graphics, which would be a good solution, but it's £650. They often discount, so the 15" equivalent may come down in price or there may be a competitor laptop with similar spec for £50 less.0 -

My son had a Novatech; theior current range of gaming orientated laptops is: http://www.novatech.co.uk/laptop/gaming/
(I say "had", because it was stolen, and he actually did well out of the insurance claim.)0 -

1st one looks pretty good for the money (2nd is good, but out of my budget). Only small problem with it is 6GB ram (was wanting 8GB ideally, but can upgrade at a later date), and 500GB HDD (ideally wanted 1TB), but again could still live with it, and I'm relying more on cloud storage after getting fibre broadband.
Also should have said a DVD drive is a must, also screen size no bigger than 15.6 inches.0 -

Fair price. This sell at £599 at other place.
This is an alternative.
