What exactly does this do? I don't really want to download things when I'm not familiar with them. I think that I need to reinstall Microsoft Office 2010 but don't have the disc. I have tried to repair the current installation but get a message that it can't find it.0 -
You have to trust that the things I may ask you to download will be safe.
One of the uses of that tool is that it aids in the use of command line work, allowing you to easily transfer the results here.
The particular command will list files/folders at the root of your system drive. It'll help establish if the MSOCache folder is present or not. I think not which is possibly why you're having the problems you're having.0 -

OK but not this evening as I have to be in the right mood for it and I am tired at the moment. Also not tomorrow as i am working. If the MSOCache folder isn't present, what can be done? I did try to repair the MS office 2010 but it claimed not to find it and asked me which folder it was in. I am puzzled as I have never had any problem with previous updates.

Thanks to Waddler (and Johnmc). I have now returned to Microsoft's download site and ordered the physical DVD for my version of Microsoft office 2010. I do think the MS could make it clearer that preinstalled versions won't allow users to download major updates to the software unless you have the actual DVD.
I will have to wait for it to arrive now.0
