Whats the Cheapest/best Air freshener ??

Hi
I have 2 off those Airwick battery operated ones that squirts on a timer, batteries don't last 2 mins and i use poundhop refills.
This is also a pain as you have to put a 'black line/mark' on the nozzle as they now have sensors tostop you using Non-Airwick refills. This soon wears off !!
I want decent 'plug-in' type to save on batteries, plus i could refill with any aftermarket freshener ??
Anyone do this??
Thanks

I use an oil burner with essential oils if I want to alter the scent in the room. Much cheaper than air fresheners and not filled with artificial chemical scents which make me feel ill.4.30: conduct pigeon orchestra...0

Where would i get one of them ? Plus the oils ??
Thanks0 -
I put a dab of any fragrance I like on the radiator, or on a light bulbBlackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0

Wilkos also do some lovely cheap oil burners..
I'd pay a bit more for the oils though.
I also find Yankee candles are the best scented candles compared to a lot that don't really spread the scent too well. When I light my large Yankee candle you can smell it all over the house!0 -

eBay, Amazon, I get the oils from eBay (Katseye blends, The Aromatherapy Shop) - not cheap but I can't tolerate synthetic ones and you only need a few drops in the water bowl. Ikea do cheap tealights.4.30: conduct pigeon orchestra...0 -
Or, with essential oils, put 10 drops in a spray bottle and fill with water. Shake and there you have it. Plug ins are really bad for anyone with Asthma, according to our Dr there's been alot of research into it. When I got rid of our plug ins I didnt cough half as much.Married the lovely Mr P 28th April 2012. Little P born 29th Jan 20140

I use the peel from satsumas, clemantines, oranges, lemons etc. - whatever citrus peel isn't being used in a recipe... put in a pretty saucer on the mantlepiece or coffee table, give the peel a squeeze every so often as it's drying out.
Requires a little more effort than a sensor-controlled plug-in but it's free! :money:
I also have one of the scent bottles with reed sticks, my mum buys them for me. It is really nice, I always notice it when I come into the room. Not sure how cost-effective they are in MSE terms though as I don't buy them myself.
I also love the tea light oil burners (I have the ones with a large water reservoir at the top) and use mandarin oil, clary sage oil and patchouli oil (not together!). Those are quite moneysaving as the oils last ages but you have to keep an eye on the water reservoir and the tea light of course.I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.
