Dismissal, references and what to put on job applications

If the jobs are relevant it sounds like you have something to hide if you do not use the last job as a ref.

It's going to bad if the people who sacked me refuse to comment on my competence or indeed say something bad. So you can see my dilemma.

the question may be is why have your last employer not agreed to give you a reference?
