    Friday 07/02/14:

Another Friday, another physio and acupuncture session and doctors appointment... Ho hum, what would I do without the NHS :)

I had an ok nights sleep, I'm feeling ok at the moment but then I do most mornings before I go off and do adventurous things like walk and turn and sit LOL I have to laugh but this morning I really do want to do something a little more taxing like vacuum my room but I don't want to hurt my back for the sake of a bit of dust... Sums up my train of thought at the moment LOL anyone would think I'm being lazy but everything above sort of mid thigh height is clean (enough) if only I had an upright vacuum cleaner...

Today is going to have a little excitement though because today I'm buying a couple of potatoes of then I'll have everything I need for a stew!!! LOL sorry, I get excited very easily these days but in the past week I've collected carrots, a swede, an onion, stewing meat, corn flour (I already had stock cubes) and I'm ready to rock and roll!!!

The downside is that I'm going to have to shell out on some co-codomol and struggle with the decision of buying a prepaid certificate or not... will these and my stash of other tablets last me until I get better? I have enough to get me through 3-4 weeks... Hmmm... False economy or not? Grrr...

More good news is that my brother is lending me some movies today (yay!) and I've done a budget for next month and I should be able to pay Barclays £50 to pay off the remainder of my overdraft so that would be another creditor ticked off my DMP :)

Good luck with the stew today I'm sure its gonna be just fine.

Think If I was you I'd go for the pre-payment certificate and you can pay monthly for them so that would spread the cost so it's not a big payout in one hit.

Hope the treatments go ok and whilst I'm sure it'll hurt a little more for a while but you'll see the benefits soon.

    Hola :)

I now have the potatoes :) and have just got back from the GP so now I only have a bit of chopping and boiling and my physio and acupuncture left to do :)

I never knew you could pay monthly for a certificate? Hmmm... If you can then I'll defo do that because I've just been given a prescription for two items (I miscalculated on my Naproxen) so if I can pay £10 instead of £15 today then I'm all over it :)

On a bit of a downer, my GP has signed me off for another 3 weeks which I didn't see coming and has has requested a blood test because I'm still on occasion passing out (but very occasionally)... I was expecting a week, maybe two... Hmmm... I told my boss and a ever he has been great but it's still feels like a bit of a kick but I guess I don't have to be off for the full three weeks :) I'd love to be earning my money instead of costing my department while I doss about recovering :(

    Tuesday 11/02/14:

Grrr... Where did my post from yesterday go? Hmmm... nothing rude in there? Oh well, nothing overly exciting in there either LOL

    Morning all!

    So, a quick recap on yesterday;

    1. Hi INoD, yeah... I know it's worth getting to the bottom of my back problems, I just miss work though (who knew!) :(

    2. Had physio and acupuncture again (more on Wednesday) and the acupuncture seems to be helping... Well, in so far as it makes me feel numb for half a day which is odd (but nice).

    3. I sold a pile of (I.e. several thousand) comics to a friend who is looking to start up a comic shop :) he's given me £500 with a promise of more as he works through them as I know there are some old/rare ones i there - I should hopefully get another £2-300 for them... I didn't really want to sell them as it took ages to collect them but they've been in storage for years and I know the value is in the bulk, not individual comics...

    4. I bought a 3 month prepaid certificate so hopefully I won't have to pay more for my meds... I was getting 2 items at the time so technically it only cost me another £14 or so which is less than 2 items and I may try to wrangle some hayfever tablets before it ends ;)

    And now today!

I've paid off another wedge from my debts and plan on paying off either Welcome Finance (£130ish) or Barclays o/d (£55ish) today... possibly even both!!! They're not huge debts, nor am I being charged interest on either but it's two less creditors for a smallish amount of cash :)

Who knows what the day will bring... Sadly I've not slept well but at least I'm not going to work (LOL ;) ).

    Laters!

    Wednesday 12/02/14:

So today I have a blood test, physiotherapy and acupuncture LOL I've been looking for a new hobby and I guess being a patient found me :)

It struck me last night that over the past couple of months I must have spent around 12 hours in total with various GP's, nurses, physio's, etc and (excluding prescriptions) it has cost me nothing! What's more, by the time I get back to work I'll have likely spent about half that again (probably/hopefully a little bit more) and on the whole everyone has been really friendly and helpful and understanding so I need to say a big "Thank you NHS!" :)

    Ok, back to it...

So I was a bit silly yesterday as I was feeling pretty good (or at least better than I have been) and went for an extended walk :) don't ask me why LOL I just could so I thought I would :) I'll know for next time to not go further away from home as it takes longer to get back LOL I can laugh now but at the time it wasn't so funny ;)

But this morning I'm feeling ok! YES!!! I've done my exercises and I'm still ok... Stiff and a bit achy but ok... :) AWESOME! Next thing you know I'll be doing more adventurous things like sitting down LOL :)

Financially, things aren't too shabby... I've spent a lot less this month so far already so should be able to end the month with a little money left in the bank because I don't see anything (touch wood) happening between now and then :)

Even better, I recently took delivery of some Morrisons vouchers thanks to the Sun+ website offer so I may have a splurge to reward myself! It's free so why not ;)

I can't wait for the end of the month now so I can take a step back and take a look at my finances and pat myself on the back for finally taking control!

    Laters,

    Thank you, thank you :)

The stew is really nice (I'm still eating it LOL) but I fell asleep and it went a little mushy LOL, it's my own fault but it's a corker :)

  • You inspired me. I made stew last night that fed 5 and left enough for another 2 meals. It's just the weather for it. It also removed two packets of meat from the freezer and used up veggies that might otherwise have gone bad. Yay!

Hi INoD, more than welcome for the inspiration LOL stew is great when it's wet, cold and wild outside :)

So then today... Bit annoyed with myself :( I wasn't able to get to the hospital for treatment yesterday :( I felt "fine" in the morning and had a little walk :) then a couple of hours before my appointment I went for another walk and was ill in the street! Excellent LOL as if hobbling around gripping my back and snarling wasn't enough I'm now projectile vomiting!

So, I made my way home (with the help of a kind old man, thank you whoever you are! I was in too much pain and ill to remember but I think he said his name was Derek?) and called the physio dept. at the hospital to try to reschedule only to be told there was nothing free until the 20th and I should wait a couple of days anyway...

Ho hum, my next appointment is Friday afternoon so it's not the end of the world... Just one more thing LOL

At least I'm ok now :)
