as they specifiacllay state this is a service. in British law there is no cooling off period.

The OP does not have any rights to ANY refund. They're lucky they got £50 back.

    Hi

    Thanks for your input.

Whilst I appreciate the perspective portrayed so far, like any other purchase you make (a car, kettle or tv) if you have purchased something you don't want (in error, faulty or otherwise), you have the right to return it in 28 days.

Everyone who told me to accept the mistake might consider their response the last time they had returned something to Argos and were told to 'man up' by the sales staff.

It's not that simple, otherwise I may have not even sought some useful advice. You have a 28 day cooling off period for in-shop purchases and something else for this kind of purchase.

What I'm looking for here please is a bit more constructive input please from someone who understands consumer rights, not just has an negative opinion on gaming.

With downloadable content, a company cannot take it back and then sell it again if you return it. As soon as you download it, that company incurs cost of providing it to you via their servers. Even if you don't download it now, it's not an easy thing for them to take control of your console to make sure you can't download it again or if you do download it, they can't make you delete it. So if you buy it, you keep it.

As your son is young if you don't want him to download 15 and 18 rated games then why isn't he playing on a childs account?

Unfortunately by giving him both an adult account and allowing him to purchase games there isn't much you can do, there was nothing actually wrong with the download, your son just chose to download something that wouldn't fit on the hard drive. Just as if I buy a film on say itunes but the hard drive on my computer is full, it is my error, not a faulty download.

As your son has decided to buy these games why not just keep his pocket money/any special allowances until his debt has been paid.

Looks like someone forgot their log in details- which I suppose is starting to show a pattern with 'forgetting' to do things.

LOL I love it when someone gets it so so wrong.... Maybe you should look at your own constructive input?

I doubt you'll 'man up', accept your mistakes and apologise now will you...
