Presume that your going for freesat then (using the sky satellite wire)?
If so the channel line-up is:- http://www.freesat.co.uk/channels
And any humax freesat box. I bought one from the manager specials:-

Hi I thought they were about £200 I'd want one that can record programmes as well.0 -
HUMAX are great!
I went for the Humax FreeSat (It plugs in to an Sky Dish).

It is fantastic. It has Wifi for catch-up T.V (BBC iplayer, 4 on demand et al)
It has a 1TB hard drive for recording. With a very fancy and simple recording screen and T.V guide. when you fast forward it is very smooth. (I previously bought a cheap Bush Freeview box that was just horrid when fast forwarding T.V as it took a while for the picture and sound to catch up).
oh and an Apple app is going to be released later this month which allows you to record programmes whilst you are away.
I think it has more media functions such as photos and music, but I haven't played around with that.
I simply cannot fault it.
SKY = pure evil.0 -

I don't think this one has built in WIFI0 -
As a family we have two freeview Humax PVRs and they are brilliant. Easy to set up and use. No more missing the end of programmes. Records two stations at once, does series etc etc. Internet access, man of the house did the home plugs option for internet so it works well. Wifi is there if you need it.0

Wi-fi is not necessary, just use a pair of Homeplugs.
OP, you don't need to buy anything else, just the Humax PVR. It uses the same dish and LNB-just a straight box swap. About ten minutes to install and set up.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I bought this just before Xmas....

Works very well, easy to set-up and included HDMI & Scart leads.
I also have a couple of older Humax Freeview boxes and a Freeview HD box. All have worked without any issues, I wouldn't buy any other make.0 -

Can you record two programmes at once while also watching a programme live, and record two programmes at once while watching something you have already recorded?
I can do this with my present freeview Humax and would hate to lose those options. It's someone else's fault.0 -
Having had both Humax and Sky for many years I must say that I found the Sky boxes more reliable and easier to use than the Humax ones
Now have a Humax sat box and a Sky one, we have to pay Sky £10 a month but I think that is worth it as all the family can drive the box easily, unlike the Humax one.0
