Amex Platinum Cashback Everyday Credit Card
Comments

Bit of an update, just heard from Amex, they have approved my application, however it would appear I've applied for the incorrect card. I wanted the everyday cashback card without the £25 annual fee but apparently I've applied for the card that carries the annual fee. I'm sure I applied for the one I wanted but anyhow it is what it is. Surprisingly they have set my credit limit at just £2000, which I thought was on the fairly low side, however I'm fine with that. The chap I spoke to could not see the APR that was set but again I intend to pay in full each month so that doesn't bother me. I was told that if I wanted to switch the card to the one without the annual fee that I could put in another application. Has anyone else done this and did it result in another credit search? I assumed you would be able to call and just ask for it to be switched over?0

What are your spending patterns like? (And are they high) you may find this card actually works out better for you and wipes out the annual fee. Shame you got the wrong one though, and I'm surprised you couldn't just switch it over.
I won't comment on making another app as I don't know, but unless you can hold both the fee free and £25 card at one time I'd have thought it'd be an automatic decline. Never know though.Oh, you wee bazza!0 -
I plan on using the card heavily and paying in full each month. I've just been reading the benefits about this card and this may be a really stupid question but it says the following...
Get 5% cashback on up to £2,500 of purchases in your first 3 months of Cardmembership.
Does that mean that if I spend £2500 on the card with the first three months I will get £125 cashback?
Earn 2.5% cashback on all purchases for one month every year if you spend more than £10,001 in your previous 12 months of Cardmembership.
This I'm confused about but I'm probably not understanding it correctly. If I can earn 2.5% CB if I spend over £10,001 within the previous 12 months which 'one month' will the 2.5% CB be based on?
Apply by 10th March 2014 and if approved get a bonus £25 cashback to get you started
This should pay for the first years annual fee anyway?

Also forgot the following...
After the introductory period you’ll receive 1.25% cashback on virtually everything you buy – not just for a limited period
Does this mean if I spend say £1000 each month I will get £15 CB?0
