  • Well today I received my redress from HSBC so that's brought my HSBC overdraft down to £869.89!!! I'm so pleased. I have enough left over this month to clear my Capital One Card too. Next month will be a lot tighter I imagine, especially since I have to finish off my Christmas shopping and I still have baby items I need to buy.

Thank you Calling. Not quite what I was expecting at the beginning of the year... I'm hoping to finish paying off the overdraft before starting maternity leave and to save up as much a possible at the beginning of my maternity leave so I can prolong my leave as long as possible....

Okie, Happy New Year anyone reading this!!!

So I've managed to survive Christmas with no additional debt which is a great start to things! I've got a couple of large baby purchases (cloth nappies and a new baby sling) but otherwise I'm all ready for February 6th...

My car insurance was due on 14th Jan and I've already searched around for the cheapest option (which was my current insurer) then I got an email direct from them quoting their renewal offer which was actually waaaay cheaper, so I checked the details and found them on Top Cashback and paid in full using my overdraft (eek). Hopefully the cashback tracks as it means £47 back, and I saved £28 interest by paying annually...

I've also got myself RAC cover as it was just stupid having none. I paid that in full and am getting £47 cash back for that too so I guess in the grand scheme of things it should pay off. Cancelled Amazon Prime membership which autorenewed and I never used so £79 refunded :T

So I think I paid off a pretty decent amount of my debt last year. This year I'd like to finish it off and save up for a house. I'm now on maternity leave until june so by June 5th I would like to be Debt free!! That gives me 5 pay days to nail it!! £174 a month.

My first MSE priority is going to be trimming the fat so to speak... I'm going to check all my outgoings to see what can go and check I'm on the best utilities tariffs etc.
