Thank you GunWharf. I could probably have done better hadi not been distracted by other things, at least I'm back on track. My partner has a lit more debt than me, but once I've cleared mine, I'm going to pitch in and help him so we can get out of this horrible flat and into a house.

He's working hard at paying his debts off too but its going to take him a long time on his own.

You seem to be going great guns GunWharf, you must be so proud. I know it seems a long road but you will get there. It must be so difficult when you have debts spread around and working out where to start. The most I've had in one go is 2 credit cards and am OD which was stressful enough.

    Good luck!!!!

Hi Missko, nice to meet you. Yes after separation I started to struggle and even though I have a very affordable council flat, I had to buy carpets on my credit card as there were none and my daughter was only just walking.

We've outgrown the flat sincemynpartner has moved in, so we are trying to reach a position where we can move but we need to make the most of our cheap living to clear some debt first. Seems like the most sensible way.

    Good luck xxx

So nothing major has happened since my last post.... I've sold one of my items for sale so I've put it in the money pot for my SO to chip it off his most expensive card. I have been really naughty and treated us to Chinese tonight, we haven't had a Chinese in over two months and longer for other takeaways so sod it. Its been a good month for paying stuff off and less than two months until my next pay day...wooo

Oh well since we are going to be stuck in this flat for another year (hopefully no more) I'm trying to declutter and get some good storage going. We have a few cupboards but they're not being effectively used and need more shelves, new flooring etc. I've seen £land do some vinyl floor tiles which may do the trick and I have some old scrap wood to make shelves; they won't be the prettiest but I'm not willing to splash out when no one is going to see them!!

I've got some magnolia left over to touch up but tbh it's just the gloss that's looking shabby!!

So plan is to declutter, refresh and increase storage whilst spending as little as possible...wish me luck!! On the plus side, who knows what treasures I'll find for gumtree haha...

Well another day, another busy day...

I have to help my Dad pay some arrears this morning, then I've got the dentist for a filling this afternoon and I'm painting some shelves we need to put up.

I also need to find a spare hour to go and make a payment off my partner's credit card. Hopefully I can do that with cash over the counter...

Unfortunately the magnolia paint I had has passed it's sell by date by the looks of it so I need to go get some more. Not very MSE but what can you do...

  • So not much has changed really debt wise although I am now single and 6 months pregnant...yay (not). Unfortunately I've added £130 to the Capital One credit card, however HSBC upheld my claim for a refund of my packaged account fees and I have £1130 to come back to me. I'm just going to hang on for that which will bring me down to £1250 debt remaining. Although I won't have it paid by Christmas, I'm not going to be too far off and all things considered paying stuff off hasn't been #1 priority in a while...
