people reversing on my land

Some neighbours and other ramdom people visiting the street use part of the land i own outside my house to reverse into their spaces. It annoys me as one day i can see someone damaging my car and driving off as there really isnt that much room. 2 of my neigbours have access over my land outside my home to gain access to their parking spaces. But i wanted to know if i could put up either a retractable bollard or chain to stop others from using it to reverse. Im not sure if other 2 people who are allowed access over it would agree or disagree to putting some sort of barrier up but as i actually own the land and as long as i gave them a key for the bollard and let them know why, is that ok? Or is there anything they can do if they dont agree. I have no issue with them its literally just other people using it for reversing right next to my front room window.

Do your neighbours need to reverse onto your land to leave? If so a bollard or chain could be incredibly restrictive if they have to lock and unlock every time they want to leave.
Is it solely your land or is the land shared access? Having land on "your side" may not technically mean it's yours if it's shared. The definition could be important.
Why not try a traffic cone(s)? If someone hits them they will know before they damage your car, it's cheap and can easily be removed. The man without a signature.0 -
Thanks for reply. No the other neighbours dont need it to use my space to leave they really just do it for convenience. As for the two people who have access to their spaces it would be an inconvience to have to put a chain up after they have driven out but obviously i couldnt make them do it just advise them thats why we are putting it there. The land is in my boundary but its shared access for the two people who have car parking spaces on it...they need to walk over the land to gain acess to their spaces0

Speak to the 2 concerned and try to work out a way that suits you all and stops the others. Realistically the only way to do it is to keep them onside.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Or buy a CCTV camera pointing to the rear of your car, that way if anyone did ever hit it, you would have it recorded.0

I like the conr idea. If they hit the cone they should stop before hitting you car.0

When you say there is shared access, does it actually state that it is only shared access between yourself and the residents of the two other properties? Or does it state that the land is for shared access?0

Wouldn't it be easier to put up a sign saying, please don't use this space for reversing?0

Who would take notice of the sign, I would still reverse into it if it made my life easier0

One of my neighbours had a similar issue -the sign worked.0

Don't use a sledgehammer to crack a nut.you also have to factor in the effect on your house value of what this looks like.not to mention the snowball effect on neighbour relationships. Is there also anything your neighbours could do to really make your life difficult if they misinterpret your actions. Think about it.
This is how neighbour wars start!0
